[indent]You know those little plastic things that overprotective parents put in electrical sockets? Yeah, Astrid's mom wasn't like that. It wasn't necessarily her mom's fault, she was working all the time to keep what little they had. However, it did scare the life out of her when thirteen month Astrid stuck a fork in a socket and started charging. Astrid's mom, not knowing how to get her daughter away from the socket without electrocuting herself, allowed her to overcharge herself. The infant had no idea how to control herself, and quickly burnt the house down. Astrid and her mom were lucky to survive. From then on, Astrid and her mom were very careful about how they dealt with electricity. It was always a struggle for her to feed herself, especially since her single mother was already trying to hold down two jobs, and could only sometimes pay the electricity bill. At eleven her mother heard about a place where people like her daughter could control themselves. Knowing she couldn't take care of her daughter herself she sent her off.[/indent]

[color=00aeef][b][u]Appearance:[/u][/b][/color]
[indent]Astrid is a fairly short fair skinned woman. She is only 5'4" and weighs around 100 pounds, giving her the appearance of someone slightly malnourished. Her skin is a stark white in comparison to her bright red hair, easily her best feature. One interesting thing about her is that when her energy or emotions are high, sparks start to streak through her hair, much like bolts on a copper wire. She has light grey eyes that blend in well with her skin. Her clothes are fairly basic, tang tops and jeans, but when she knows she'll have to overcharge she wears thick black rubber gloves. It had been (unfortunately) known for her to burn through her clothes, so she often has another pair close at hand.[/indent]

[color=00aeef][b][u]Powers:[/u][/b][/color]
[indent][b][u]Electrokinesis[/u][/b] -  Astrid's power allows her to act much like a battery. She stores energy in her body gathered from electrical devices and machines. At all given time, Astrid is being charge from static electricity gathered in the air. The level of energy in her body reflects her mood. When it's high, she acts hyper and speeds up her speech, but when low she can be sour and rude. Most of her energy comes from static, though Astrid's body naturally burns through a small amount electricity. The burn rate of her body, however, is not enough to balance out the amount that she builds from static. To prevent herself from overloading she must use this energy. The energy she stores in her body can be manipulated in several ways. She can charge most machines, though the quickest and easiest is to shoot bolts of electricity. The drawbacks to her ability are her constant need to regulate energy income, without which she would explode from overexposure. Due to these limitations, Astrid must always make sure to drain her energy before it gets too high, often resulting in her mood being sour.

[color=00aeef][b][u]Personality:[/u][/b][/color] As said above, Astrid's mood is directly controlled by the amount of energy she has stored in her body. When she is hungry, from a low level of energy and the headaches that occur, she is cranky and very easy to tick off. Often this occurs during mornings, after she has woken up from sleeping. The lower the energy is the more of a bad mood you will find her in. On the contrary, when she has a high level of energy, she is nearly a different person. Astrid can be uncharacteristically bubbly and happy, laughing like a normal young girl. Sometimes even flirtatious. Her speech starts to speed up, often making it hard to comprehend. She also makes a lot of gestures with her hands and body. 

However, while she does seem like a better person in this state, she always has a constant worry in the back of her mind that she could hurt someone while overcharged. Due to that fact, Astrid keeps her energy constantly low, just enough to function without letting the migraines get too bad. She figures that it's better to starve herself than risk hurting someone else. So have fun with bad mood Astrid. [sub]She can be a bit of a bitch.[/sub]
