Hmmm...most of what was said already I am in total agreement with, so I'll hit on a few brief points that stick out to me...
The Good
I love a well developed character with a lot of layers that pull you into their story, unraveling their own deep-seeded history one post at a time (rather than front loading their entire story). I am a huge advocate of well written character descriptions, but not over doing it to the point where I can't use a bit of my own imagination to fill in the blanks.
The Bad
With regard to character descriptions, I don't mind having a photo attached to compliment a well-written description, but when it is used as a replacement, then I find that to be a let down and frankly it shows laziness on the authors part. Also, I'm not a fan of using different color fonts to distinguish between dialogue, as I find it to be distracting. However, I can tolerate it as long as the colors contrast well enough that I don't have to strain my eyes to read it (sorry [@Zardoric], lol...I now you love that dark purple...). And also, I can't only handle the dialogue being one color. I don't want someone's post to look like a Christmas tree O.o
The Ugly
Hmmm, Probably when people disappear (especially a GM!) with no rhyme or reason for their absence, allowing the RP to slowly diminish. Life happens and we ALL deal with crap every day, but if you can't post then please just bow out gracefully and let everyone else know. If you make a nasty habit of joining and leaving RPs, then it will eventually kick you in the ass and no one will want you around.
