Sure but its not connected to EVERYTHING, its self contained and a small community of its own. Not some world spanning thing that makes people break up or kill each other over if you don't/do something on facebook someone else doesn't like. 

Its an irrational fear or dislike probably influenced by those horrid news stories you see all the time, much like Florida being a horrendous state. Now if all those stories happened IN florida or other notoriously bad states, then I'd reconsider my stance on them.

Also probably doesn't help that two divorces my parents had involved facebook so...
