Name: Science Officer Helena Crownfel

Age: 30 Gender: Female Background: Helena’s parents were Confederacy of Babel supporters. Not only that, they even were quite high in the CB hierarchy. Their position of power came into jeopardy once their only daughter Helena was born. She was what they considered to be extremely rebellious as she constantly questioned the actions of the CB, not hesitating to do so even in public. Not willing to let their daughter put an end to their careers, they had her kidnapped and moved to the space station belonging to the Babel United Forces at the age of 6. Since she had to live most of her childhood in the slums of the station, it took wits and smarts to survive. And the ordeal allowed her to discover an inherent understanding of technology related subjects. Out of mere junk she managed to build herself a makeshift weapon for her own protection, which was essentially an electromagnetic crossbow. Her other issue was currency. She usually managed to hack into various accounts and secure enough money to barely survive. This was however always a risky proposition and indeed she was eventually caught. Fortunately the account she was hacking at the time belonged to an employee of a weapons development company. They recognized her talents and subsequently made her authority problems “go away”, then hired her. After the defeat of the CB and launch of the Apollo project, a lot of the scientists were assigned to the frigates of the project. Materials available on the space station imposed limitations on what could be made. The prospect of discovering new ones while in deep space was enticing. The Apollo project needed scientists and corporations like the one Helena was working for were happy to provide them. Personality: Helena never tries to hide her feelings and opinions, always open about what’s on her mind. To others she often seems blunt, maybe too much for her own good. The constant conflict she had with her parents left her with a rebellious and stubborn attitude. Due to spending most time on the streets only relying on her improvised tools rather than other people, it was natural she developed a fondness for all things technology related. So much that if faced with the chance of saving a piece of technology opposed to say a fellow crewmember from the clutches of oblivion, needless to say the correct choice wouldn’t be an obvious one to her. Equipment: Her day to day outfit serves as combat equipment, as her entire outfit is an intricate shield generator. The shield has a very poor recharge rate, however it will last a considerable period of time under fire. Custom Built Hand Cannon: Her only weapon is the self-made gauss pistol. Using all her knowledge she perfected the design over the years to the point where it fires slugs at speeds similar to a high-powered anti-materiel rifle. The insane fire power comes at a cost however. Firing rounds at those extreme velocities puts extreme stress on the weapon, as it has to absorb the recoil without passing it on to the user. After 4-6 shots fired it requires considerable maintenance and repairs. More than 6 shots and the gun might rip itself apart, likely causing injury to the user as well. Strengths: Calm and collected under stressful situations – No matter the situation one will have a hard time catching Helena even flinching. Manipulative – Sometimes, to survive, you need to use the people around you. Resourceful – Could probably pass as MacGyvers younger sister. Weaknesses: Antisocial – Helena prefers keeping to her pet projects rather than interacting with the people around her. Distrusting – If she couldn’t even trust her own parents after what they had done, who could she trust? Disregard for human life – Her personal hand cannon is a perfect example. Speech Color: "My voice lights up the room in a bright, blinding green." Other: She happens to have what could only be described as an addiction to pancakes.
