His parents remained in Wycome. He received the letter of his grandfather's condition after it had worsened (postage in DA could use some dwarven horseless carriages) and could not get there in enough time, hence him going to Rivain before returning to Tevinter, and his brother is a templar in the Free Marches. Although, having his parents move to Tevinter may add a layer to the tension between him and his brother. May change that.
