Name: Namadique Demonym: Namadiquais/Namadician Description:
Pierre Bélain landed on what is now Namadique in 1625. Against the advice of those around him, he decided to settle without much backing from any company. The original settlement, Saint Pierre, failed miserably before the year was over. The people of the settlement suffered frequent attacks by the native inhabitants. Bélain was forced to retreat back to France and petition for assistance in taking the island. He tragically died on the trip back, but his nephew, Jacques Dyel du Parquet, finished his work. Returning to Namadique with close to 200 settlers, they expelled the native population and began clearing land for sugar cane. Ownership of the island was contested during several wars between France and England, with England coming into possession of the island during both the 7 Years War and the Napoleonic wars. Only having recently been granted independence, Namadique is economically dependent on their French (and her allies) compatriots buying their raw goods. It's a pretty enough island, with often described as "the snobbiest paupers."
Government: Diarchy: Two Heads of State of equal power, one secular, one religious Head of State: (Extra style points if the title is "El Presidente.")
