He's a vamp who can burn/regenerate in the sun for 12 hours without dying. That's taking a vamps MAIN weaknesses and shrugging it off like it's nothing. It said in the CS his skin and body would burn 'until the sun goes down or until his regeneration gives out' which doesn't really give somebody much to go on. [@Aro] is better at breaking things down so I'll let him try and work with you on a compromise. I'm wondering if a silver coffin at the bottom of the ocean is overkill or just a damnable prison.
