She typically wears her hair in a ponytail. Her most defining feature is the tattoo sleeve on her left arm.
Powers/Skills:
-Weapons training: she is adept with a wide range of weapons and explosives. Especially explosives. -CQC: she is proficient at close quarters combat. Although she's no karate master. -Subterfuge: she's an expert at espionage and black operations. She's no stranger to overthrowing dictators and toppling governments (see backstory).
Backstory:
Codename Starling is a fugitive and has been branded a terrorist in several countries including the United States. Much of her file has been redacted, destroyed, or otherwise "misplaced" so it is difficult to piece together the chain of events that lead to her current status. What is clear is she spent a number of years working for influential US organizations, including but not limited to the CIA. Reports show she was present during several third world revolutions which was often started or incited by the death of an infamous dictator or politician. Her role in such events is unknown. The nature of her line of work affords operatives a certain amount of freedom. As long as directives are met, questions aren't asked. But Starlings file show an increase in insubordination over time. At first she was going out of her way to take unauthorized actions, risking the mission at hand. Eventually she was ignoring mission objectives all together, using organizing funds and resources to go off on her own crusades. Soon she was deemed a threat, her actions in conflict with the interests of the US government. She was blacklisted and abandoned. Opposing powers offered her refuge for her knowledge of classified information, but when it became apparent she wasn't going to divulge the really juicy secrets, she was truly on her own. Perhaps surprisingly, Starling's short list of trusted friends includes Dinah Lance aka the Black Canary. When Starling returned stateside she was approached by Black Canary join her team, the Birds of Prey. This is where she got the codename Starling, despite other members (Katana, Poison Ivy) lacking an avian moniker. Her time with the Birds of Prey was short but sweet. It was her first and only foray into the world of masked vigilantism, even though she didn't wear a mask. The group eventually disbanded, each member having their own affairs to deal with. Although its difficult to have a personal life as a wanted woman, Starling has been successfully evading authorities and living between the cracks for sometime.
Motivation for joining the League?:
It would be nice to walk into an airport without facial recognition software going off or have a driver's license with her real name on it. Truth is: Starling is tired to living on the run, constantly looking over her shoulder for a G-man trying to take her in. The Justice League is the ultimate international force of good guys, right? Its a long shot but if she was a League member (and saved the world a couple times), maybe they'd forget about her past. Plus she always wanted to meet Wonder Woman.
What do you bring to the League?:
Masked heroes tend to be boyscouts, fighting for truth, justice, and saving cats stuck in trees. Even Batman has lines he doesn't cross. Starling isn't a hero. She's an operative with a set of skills that most heroes would deem morally questionable. She doesn't have a lasso of truth, but with a few hours, duct tape, and a car battery she can get anybody to spill the truth. She may not be the fastest man alive, but with her connections and resources she can get to any point on the planet within 36 hours. Starling can play dirty and stick her hands in the mud while the heroes keep theirs' clean.
Notes
Starling is a massive fangirl for Wonder Woman.
