Name:
Shlomo Levin
Alias:
Redliner
Age:
31
Sex:
Male
Appearance:
A thick, stout, powerfully built, already balding and slightly fat man in his thirties. His girthy frame is draped by mighty, massive muscles that cling to his body like cliffs to the mountain's side and his ape-like arms are unproportionately long for his build and extremely hairy. On top of a short neck not unlike a stump of a millenial tree sits a round, crimson face with small, narrowly set eyes, a wide nose and prominent jaw that gives him a vicious underbite. His teeth are small and sharp, several of them are made of gold but the remaining ones are very well-maintained. The look that is most of the time transfixed upon this intimidating face is that of horrible determination.
Powers/Skills:
Super-Durability - Redliner's flesh is incredibly dense, his perceptions of pain dulled, his system, enduring and his bones, nigh-unbreakable. He posesses a wonderful physical resilience, able to shrug off quite horrible fatigue. extreme temperatures, very powerful blows and most forms of gunfire with little ill efects - and even after receiving serious and life-threatening injuries as aresult of, say, a powerful explosion, he might be incapacipated and maimed but his body will tenaciously cling to life for a very, very long time. Super-Strength - once again thenks to great density of his muscle tissue, Redliner posesses a degree of physical strength quite a bit in excess of what the greatest non-superhuman strongman or athlete can acheive. Close Combat Expertise - thanks to his background and exhausting and endless training, Redliner is extremely capable in melee and brawling, using his every chance and possibility to gain the upper hand. Unless absolutely explicitly necessary, he gives no quarter, favours no plea and takes no chances - all sorts of tricks, dirty techniques and brutalities are fair game as long as in the end it leaves the good guy standing upright and his opponent lying on the ground with no desire or ability to continue. Just as well, he is a more than acceptable marksman who knows how to use most kinds of firearms. His favored weapons are axes and rebar, but in the League he adopts less lethal and more refined close combat weapons such as powerful stun batons and electrified knuckle dusters. Power Nulification Device - On Redliner's left forearm, melded and grown into his arm and spreading it's tendrils through his skin and body, proudly sits a massive, bulky and streamlined alien device wrought from gleaming gold-like metal and posessing of two separated screens and hundreds upon hundreds of tiny star-shaped buttons. The horrible and devastating power of this device was, originally, to even out the chances between the many-specied gladiators in the ancient coliseums of an eldritch precursor race - one screen is used to input the information about specific powers and capabilities and the other, to designate the species who must posess an equal, or at very least sporting chance against their foe. For good or ill, as of now the second screen's setting is somehow set to "human" and can not be changed by any means that Redliner ever posessed. First screen's information, however, is free to be redacted in accordance with wearer's desires. The device allows the input of three variables, all of which describe specific powers or abilities - computer's database seemingly posesses information on all sorts of things, from kryptonians to arcane constructs to technology of Reach to mutations of specific species to hell-wrought magic - so at any given time Redliner is able to set his device to deny the abilities of say, aforementioned Kryptonians, Green Lanterns and thaumaturgical magics. When a person/object/thing posessing specified powers enter a fairly small control zone of the device - about 10-15 meters - it begins slowly sapping Redliner's life force and stamina in order to project a strange forcefield/s specifically tailored in order to bring the target down to the level of abilities of human species. Superpowered beings find their abilities missing, magics flicker and die out, ultratech devices beyond human understanding quietly power down - the field is leveled and the chances are evened, Redliner's opponents finding themselves only as powerful as they would be as mere humans. Real shame they are now up against a superstrong and very determined being armed with a big metal stick. Of course, such awesome power does not come without some drawbacks and limitations: First of all, the device requires conscious active input - Redliner MUST know the nature and source of his enemies' power in order to negate it and can only affect three separate sorts of abilities at the same time. Of course, he makes use of rote memorization and mental training in order to learn and quickly access the most widespread and dangerous sorts of abilities on the device's keyboard, but that is not a great lot of consolation when there are myriads and myriads of other powers in the world. Second of all, the device requires some sacrifice. When activated, glowing golden tendrils begin to syphon Redliner's vital forces to power the field - the more targets it affects at any given time, the quicker it drains the user's stamina. A single Green Lantern will find his ring impotent, just as will ten Lanterns that somehow wander into Redliner's control zone at the same time - but in first case the hero will have to subdue his foe for an hour or two before feeling adverse effects, and in second his field will only hold out for about ten minutes before Redliner collapses out of exhaustion. Third, the device does not has any friend-or-foe identification - allies posessing the same sort of power as enemies will find themselves nulified as well.
