Name: Cabal Sabacan Age: 18 Gender: Male Race: Aswang Race Information: A shape-shifting monster from the Philippines, it is often compared to ghouls, vampires, or other werebeasts. The Aswangs are the kings of the Philippines night, being the most feared among all other native monsters. During daylight hours, they masquerade as humans, and are almost indistinguishable from them; in fact, they go so far as to form relationships with some humans, who are exempted from their menu. Aswang feast on the hearts and livers of humans, and can command black magic in order to hide evidence of their involvement. One such magic is the ability to replace their victims with doppelgangers made from plant materials, that will then return to the victim's home, only to become extremely sick and then die, thus removing anything that implicated them. During the night, they gain supernatural strength, hearing, and speed, and powerful regeneration that makes them unkillable via normal methods; there are only three definitive ways to defeat an Aswang during the night: fight them with a whip made of a stingrays tail, shove garlic inside of them, or keep killing them until they pass out from exhaustion, as their regeneration takes a toll on their stamina. They are also repelled, but not injured, by salt, as they are unable to physically touch the substance. During daylight, they retain their ability to shape-shift, but keep none of their supehuman ability or immortality, rendering them much like a normal person or animal. Appearance: As Aswang basically look human as their default form, due to the need to blend in with humans, Cabal basically assumes a human appearance -- up until he shape-shifts into an animal. His human form is a lithe, light-browned skinned boy standing at about 5'6'' in height, with black hair and eyes. Though there are other water dwelling monsters, such as the Sirena, Sireno and Siyokoy, it is the Kataw who are acknowledge as their rulers and the Bantay Tubig -- or Water Guardians. They have much the same abilities as their subjects, such as being able to breathe underwater, emit a sonic scream to paralyze foes, but what truly distinguishes them is their astounding ability to manipulate the element of water itself, and even transform it into ice. Unlike their counterparts, they do not have fins and instead have human legs, though they retain gills at the side of their neck and have fins in their arms and hands. They do not posses any other abilities asides from these, meaning their physical strength is relative to humans of their age and build. While heat is not deadly to Katal, it is an encumbrance to the them as they easily dehydrate. Appearance: Her human appearance is that of a light-brown skinned girl, with black long hair and eyes. She stands at 4'10''. Her monster form is much like her human form, only her skin is covered in glittering scales and her arms and hands develop webs and fins, while the gills around her neck are revealed. Backstory: A true-blue princess, Suba is not only mermaid nobility -- she's mermaid royalty. As the youngest daughter of the Baybay-Hilaga Clan, she was the pampered baby of the family, well loved and showered with attention. Unfortunately, with her clan caught up in a massive war, her father, Datu Puti, decided that the only way to keep her safe was to send her away, to someplace where she would be safe. Yokai Academy seemed like the best option; it was a place where she could still continue her education, while at the same time keep her safe from the ongoing conflict. Bio: Suba can be summed up in two words: Spoiled Sweet. She's been treated to everything she's ever wanted her entire life, and is in fact, quite spoiled, naive, and even shallow, however, she's fine with sharing what she has -- even if she comes of sometimes as insensitive or a braggart -- and is generally a nice and loving person. Not to mention really, really, ignorant about the value of money . . . or material wealth in general. Conversely, she sees that value of other things more clearly than others, such as the value in bonds, family, and love.
