The Vellonian Duchy has been around for many years and as always had imperialistic standards set, feudalistic if nothing else. There are fifteen families in total which are kept together through loyalty to the kingdom itself, should the current Grand Duke or Duchess die, a moot will be held by the ruling families and decide on who should adopt the Vellonian family name for their own house. Afterwards, the next Grand Dutch or Dutchess holds much power of the land, but cannot dismantle any standing family within the realm.
