The books have always been friends of his and sources of comfort in times of stress, and he holds them quite dear in his heart. They are a gateway for him to understand the world and its deepest intricacies, but Ross has not clung entirely to paper and binding as some have. Preferring to try things for himself and practice his magic, Ross instead enjoys a little more experimentation and hands-on work than the average Ravenclaw, and he often keeps a journal to record his findings. As a student at Hogwarts, he spent a heavy amount of time in the library. In fact, because he is the type of person who rejects moral absolutes and whose tenacity towards ambition knows few limits, he sometimes ventured into the restricted section in his later years to study some such esoteric and rare sorts of magic. Some of his classmates would even go so far as to opine that Ross knows just a tiny bit about everything although Ross would much beg to differ. Though a bookworm at heart, Ross does not let his studies stand in the way of his social life, and he takes a shining to the company of other people. He is a remarkably good conversationalist, perhaps so good that it becomes annoying (or cute) how much he talks, depending on the audience. His warm and welcoming demeanor is friend to even the most distant stranger, but a downfall for his safety and a drain on his energy. One can only handle unbounding, sacrificial kindness for so long before one neglects himself or is taken advantage of. When Ross reaches the end of his rope in this regard, he becomes slightly more irritable, lethargic, and depressive, and it is best to let him cool down when he runs out of energy. And aside from that, the only other time he can become snappy is if he is pressed to be, if he is crossed or harmed in some way or perceives such a thing. He isn't renowned for his emotional self-control or his ability to hold back a temper. Let's just say that Ross can be a little hot-headed at times. [sub]APPEARANCE[/sub]As pictured. Ross stands at roughly 5 feet and 9 inches and does not possess a particularly sculpted physique. However, he does have broad shoulders, a decently toned chest, and just a little muscle in his arms and legs. [sub]BACKGROUND[/sub]A childhood prodigy, Ross Anderson was born to a Muggle father and a witch mother. Although they eventually divorced out of incompatibility, they still loved their son and remained on positive terms with each other, working out an arrangement for shared custody. His Muggle father David Anderson and pure-blood mother Marissa Carter gave Ross the strong foundation he needed to be successful in education, his ethic and his love for learning, which followed him through his career at Hogwarts. His mother had his family move to the United States for the duration of the Second Wizarding War to avoid much of the fray, and she made sure to use it as a lesson to Ross. Even though he had no personal memory of the war, he developed an early understanding of blood purity and prejudice from his mother, which was solidified through his time at Hogwarts. Magic became a refuge for Ross at Hogwarts as he slowly discovered that not all young witches and wizards were nice, but he refused to let anything of that sort discourage him and chose to metamorphose into a positive, social influence. [sub]ASPIRATIONS[/sub]Ross is unsure of what he wants to do per se, but he knows that he wants to use his magical talents for something good, that he wants to help a lot of people through his work, and that he doesn't want to be stuck doing boring work. Whether it's working at the Ministry, being an Auror, becoming a journalist, or specializing in a trade responsible for many useful wizarding goods, Ross is excited for the future and what it holds, and he hopes to have the opportunity to figure out what it is he wants to do, even if that path leads to a job in the Muggle world.
[sub]HOUSE[/sub] Ravenclaw [sub]ACADEMIC RECORD[/sub]Ross had a lot of innate talent entering Hogwarts for the first time, but he quickly learned that innate talent was not a precursor to educational success from his parents while figuring things out at school. He rushed right for the books and used them as a foothold for his academic career, and he rose to become one of Ravenclaw's top students through hard work and long nights in the Ravenclaw dormitory. Ross skipped through the OWLs with ease, but in his seventh year, he had only barely received an EE on his NEWT in Potions. The other NEWTs he had more success with: Transfiguration, DADA, Charms, and Muggle Studies. Either way, it was clear that Ross had accomplished a great deal at Hogwarts. [sub]SKILLS[/sub] Transfiguration: 8 Charms: 9 Herbology: 4 Potions: 3 Defence Against the Dark Arts: 7 Duelling: 6 Flying: 8 Muggle Studies: 10 Care of Magical Creatures: 5 Pun Factor: 10 Piano Seduction: 9

[sub]BECK[/sub]Ross shared Muggle Studies, Potions, and Charms at the NEWT level with Beck, and they had gotten along swimmingly in the past. They weren't particularly close, but Ross likes her carefree, be-cool-but-take-no-shit attitude. He sat next to her in Muggle Studies, but not in Charms or Potions where they would be in Will's sight. [sub]DARREN[/sub]Ross side-eyed and peeped at Darren a lot in NEWT level Muggle Studies, DADA, and Charms, and Transfiguration. He never directly spoke to Darren, and he was certain Darren had never spotted Ross' infatuated staring. Main point: Ross thought Darren was cute, but he always refused to admit it and felt a little ashamed of it. [sub]LIZA[/sub]Ross had all his NEWT courses with Liza except Muggle Studies, and he did not take Herbology at the NEWT level. He mostly saw Liza like a sister, and they frequently studied together and bonded over their shared House and blood status. They could be spotted at the library together at times. [sub]WILL[/sub]Ross found Will attractive and could see that Will tried in earnest to do the right thing, but he could not move past the fact that Will just seemed outright douche-y. The "You've got much talent, for a muggle" comments really pissed Ross off, especially in the middle of their shared study sessions. Ross couldn't tell what he was tempted to do more - kiss him or do something Unforgivable. [sub]ELISE[/sub]Ross got a little irked when Elise became a little too energetic, even too much for him, but nonetheless, he was always very tolerant and didn't mind her company. He admired her enthusiasm and her loyalty to her cousin. Otherwise, he didn't know her too well. In every NEWT-level class he had with Liza, Elise was also present, and from his perspective, they seemed to get along well. [sub]MARY[/sub]Ross had fewer classes with Mary as he did with Elise. He knew her and was on friendly terms with her by the time they left Hogwarts, but she was even more distant to him than Elise was. Ross still saw something in Mary which he saw in himself as she opened up and became more sociable; he saw someone in the same personality transition he was once in. [sub]ARTHUR[/sub]Ross hadn't the slightest clue who Arthur was. They had similar classes, but Ross probably didn't take much notice of Arthur. Arthur, to Ross, was just another face in the crowd. [sub]SIOBHAN[/sub]Ross only knew that Siobhan was incredibly ambitious, for he had witnessed in their earlier years at Hogwarts her talents in Care of Magical Creatures, her intense interest in dragons. Family business, perhaps. Besides, Ross hardly had any contact with Siobhan. They saw each other in very few classes, and that was it. [sub]KYLE[/sub]Ross did not see or talk to Kyle much. He remembered Kyle as the clumsy broom-rider from his Flying class, something Ross himself excelled at and took to like a charm. In the NEWT classes they shared, Ross saw Kyle's unwavering desire to achieve his goal, a deep-seated fixation on his dream of being a teacher, and Ross admired Kyle for that and for his talents and work ethic in Transfiguration. They didn't really talk much at all, perhaps a passing glance or greeting, but they were never really more than acquaintances.
