Terra Branford - Hyrule Fields
The thug that had been approaching quickly ran off when he realized that two of party were armed and a third wielded fire arcana. The weapons that Scout and Gaige had were strangely designed indeed. Like almost nothing Terra had ever seen before. They did bear a passing resemblance to the canons of the Magitek Elite Armour that fired Magic Missles but these were far too compact for that purpose. The only way that Terra actually knew they were weapons was from the way Scout and Gaige pointed them at the potential threat. Gaige for some reason seemed surprised that everyone had reacted to an attack with defensive and offensive maneuvers. Terra wasn't sure exactly when but at some point she had discounted the possibility that Gaige was working for the Gestahlian Empire despite the Magitek melded to her body. She must have obtained it from elsewhere as no one under Kefka's rule would be able to hold onto that carefree and energetic state of mind. Gaige questioned whether their "Echo Devices" were working as though it was something everyone knew. Terra couldn't decipher what she was talking about. The only object of any sort of importance named Echo that Terra was aware of was a herb that grew plentifully in the Gestahlian Empire and the surrounding countries. It was used as a cure for vocal maladies and curses that effected someone's ability to speak. She proceeded to make even less sense as she justified Terra's abilities to the overzealous and eccentric Hildibrand as those of a "Siren". Siren was one of the first Espers that Terra had obtained and though the skills her magicite could bestow were basic she served as a good way to introduce her fellow Returners to using magicite to learn magic. It didn't seem like this was what she was referring to as it seemed Gaige was trying to deny the existence of magic altogether. Hildibrand was not stupid, or at least not as stupid as he appeared and rebuffed her claims that Terra was not a magician. He clearly knew the Siren as some kind of monster and was kind enough to say that such a lovely lady as herself could never be such a creature. Terra dropped her gaze. She wondered if he would find her so beautiful if he ever say her Esper form. Terra felt the need to prove Hildibrand's point even further. "I'm a former Magitek Elite. My ancestry grants me powerful abilities regarding both fire and healing. As well as a few other tricks." Terra didn't really feel the need to reveal her status as a half-esper. Where she came from it make her a freak and though her closest friends were understanding most people were not. To make the point about her magic more obvious Terra blinked once and vanished from where she stood appearing a few meters away just behind Hildibrand. "Magic." She said nonchalantly to Gaige. The tech girl did bring up a good point though. Each of them had named a different place as home, was familiar or not with different levels of technology and arcana. All of them had vastly different skill sets. Was it possible that Terra was no longer in her own world. The Warring Triad represented the gateway between the Esper realm and the mortal one. As it became misaligned by Kefka perhaps it was possible that it had shunted the people closest to it into other worlds. It would certainly explain the bizarre nature of the place she now stood. Hilibrand elected himself leader of their little group and decided that it was time they head for the castle in the distance. As he was beginning to march off Terra grabbed his collar forcing him to stop. "That might be a little hasty. Look at this place, it has clearly been lived in recently, it's safeguarded from the monsters outside and yet there is no one here. No one responded to the sound Scout's weapon made. No one has come to yell at me for the damage my fire caused to the ground. Shouldn't we investigate what happened to these people?" Failing that as it was possible the others weren't curious or caring enough to do so Terra pointed to the other end of the farm. At that end there was a corral with a number of large beasts penned inside. Though Terra had never seen them before they appeared saddled like chocobo. They looked too well groomed to be labor creatures so Terra assumed they were meant to be ridden. "At the very least we might acquire some of the mounts in the pen over there."
