James entered Steven's office and sat down. He quickly dismissed the salute; he hated most of the formalities of command. "Please, no saluting. It makes me uncomfortable." He made a quick look around the office and noted that Steven was already well-situated aboard the ship. "The Enterprise may be an old ship, but our recent refit has brought it up to the standard of some of our newest vessels. Even our newest Z-19 series destroyers fall behind on some level or another." James could see that Steven was slightly confused by his rambling. That was good, since it gave him a chance to find out what kind of person Steven really was. Sure, he had an extremely impressive resume, and his scores were off the charts, but a true test of character happens person-to-person, not by reading a few sheets of paper. "What is your impression of the ship so far?" he finally asked. He waited for Steven's reply.
