Quinn was once like many other young officers, kind, even charismatic, witty, but like many others, he was changed by war.

Following the war, and some of the horrors he was subjected to, Quinn has turned cruel. He holds a deep hatred for any of the old browncoats, though at the same time he understands why many of his own comrades have turned against the Alliance. He does not forgive the Alliance, but believes that with the correct leadership it could be reformed into something better. As such, he is quite ambitious, believing he could lead the Alliance to what it should be, this ambition has in the past led him to betray his superiors, to sell them out and even murder them, in order to secure his position.

On the outside, Quinn wears the facade of a cruel, evil man, he manipulates those around him, and gives no mercy to his enemies. However on the inside, Quinn is still very much the man he once was, terrified of facing retribution for his own actions, and so refusing to break away from the Alliance he no longer trusts.

[b][color=FF2F2F]The Reason You Chose The Side You Did:[/color][/b] Raised in a family of staunch loyalists, Gregory signed up in the first war to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, a long-experienced veteran in the Alliance military. While his brother served as infantry, Gregory signed up to become an officer, believing it would serve for a more respectable and admirable position.

[b][color=FF2F2F]History:[/color][/b] Born into a rich and successful family on Ariel, Gregory's father was a successful politician, his mother a doctor, and his brother already an intelligent student and experienced athlete. Gregory himself was an intelligent, almost gifted child, performing marvelously throughout his schooling with the support of his family. Before the war started out, he was on the fast track to becoming a skilled lawyer.

However, when the war did start, Gregory had every intention of joining the Alliance military alongside his brother, who had been a member of the infantry for a number of years at that point. In the earlier years of the war, Gregory cared deeply about the men under his command, becoming a well-respected and decorated leader. However, he was eventually surrounded and defeated by Independents in a decisive battle which left his men captured or killed through a repeated and never-ending bombardment.

Gregory and those men alongside him who had been captured were submitted to torture, which left even more of his men dead. This turn of events sparked an immense change within Gregory. The death of his friends and men sparked a feeling of fear and hatred in Gregory which led him to take more drastic and ruthless actions against the Independents throughout the war. At the battle of Serenity Valley, Gregory refused to accept the surrender of an entire regiment of browncoats, having them all shot on the spot.

Since the war, Gregory has made his way along as an efficient, effective and ruthless leader. When the Alliance requires a job done well and done quickly, they send Gregory to deal with it, although they know more often than not to question his methods. Since the war has started up again, and the events on Miranda come to light, Gregory has more of a respect for the browncoat movement, and has even considered defection. However, considering his previous actions against the browncoats in the first war, he remains with the Alliance more out of fear, not wishing to face justice for his own actions.

Quinn has grown to become a clear case of self-loathing. He is entirely aware of how the war affected and changed him, and he knows the things he has lost as a result of that change. However, he fears and is almost certain that he can not turn back, and as a result continues on a dangerous spiral further into the darkness he has delved into.

Carla is perhaps the only real friend that Gregory has left. She has stuck with him despite his immense change, the one even he is aware of. He partially owes her his life, she saved him from captivity, and has saved his ass a fair few other times. He is content to spend his time around her, and nowadays he only really lets his old self reveal itself around her.

Gregory does not actively engage with Finger if he can avoid it - he understands the mans use and acknowledges that he is quite good at his job, but there are aspects he does not agree with. A victim of it once himself - Quinn is against Finger's use of torture, but he does not stop the man from enacting it, in many cases.[/center]

Quinn has only met Dupoit once or twice at a few officer's parties. While he never hired her or enjoyed her services, a few of the men he has served with were or are among her more regular clientelle, and so he has spoken to her on occasion, although these conversations have never been particularly in depth. He is oblivious to her alignments, or who her friends are.

However, Quinn is aware of what he has become, and is terrified of facing retribution for what he's done, even though he now faces the risk of having to fight the woman he loves.

He does not blame her for leaving the Alliance, or hold it against her, but he understands his duty if he does encounter her - she is now his enemy, however much he may hate that fact.

For many reasons, Quinn despises Atticus - as a religious man, he believes that the Preacher is not what he claims to be, and sins far more than he is saintly. Quinn similarly views Atticus as a traitor for throwing his lot in with the crew of Vengeance, and plans to bring him to justice for just that reason.

Quinn ordered the execution of Lieutenant Tanner's entire regiment during the first war, however after looking into the details and records on the regiment, he realised Jackson had not been among them when he executed them all. Believing that as long as Jackson lives, his job is unfinished, Quinn has forever had a note in his mind that he would kill Tanner whenever he had the chance.

Quinn has made quite the effort to learn what he can about Anisa after the war. Knowing that she has been associated with Jackson Tanner, he has made every effort to try and track her and her ship down, hoping to take her down along with her First Mate. Anisa has been a target of Quinn's throughout most of his career, and he has no intention of relenting in his hunt, especially after she has 'taken' someone special from him.
