[indent]Jess’ personality benefits from a very loose leash maintained by her parents; they are of the mindset that Jess is fully capable of exploring who she is as a person by herself. Their job is to keep her out of legal trouble and teach her how not to get herself killed.

As you can imagine, giving a young girl a lot of money and a lot of room to operate doesn’t exactly make her a model citizen. Jess is already a smoker, both cigarettes and marijuana, and she’s more than willing to explore everything for the sake of “understanding more about herself.” The world is a playground, and Jess has the keys to it.

It’s a mystery whether Jess sees other people as people at this point, or just tools for her enjoyment. She doesn’t really have a lot of respect for anyone besides herself, though she knows where the line between plain rudeness and complete bigotry is. Jess doesn’t pretend to know what it’s like to be on the wrong side of a power dynamic, since her confidence and family wealth almost always give Jess the upper hand. 

She’s wary of people that are drawn to her, largely because she knows her reputation often precedes her, and most people just want her for a quick fuck. That’s not how she operates, but most people don’t seem to get that. As such, Jess doesn’t really have any real friends, but most people know who she is.[/indent]

The house is decorated as such, so while it blends into the neighborhood on the outside, anyone that walks into the Grossman home knows immediately that this family has money.[/indent]

[indent]This isn’t the first summer before freshman year Jess has had; just a year ago, Jess was living in the Hamptons in New York City, preparing to start her [i]real[/i] first year of high school. Of course, when you get caught sending pictures of yourself to an older man over the internet and having phone sex with him, that can derail those high school plans pretty significantly.

She’s spent the larger part of the last year sitting in a room with lawyers working out a lawsuit settlement between her parents and the man she had been talking to. Jess skipped that year of high school, and when her family realized that there was absolutely no way to escape the media attention that came with Jess’ case, they relocated to her father’s hometown of Arrowsmith, South Dakota.

Not that this was the first sexual incident Jess has been involved in; by her count, she’s made out with enough people to fill a bus, and she’s fucked at least seven of them. Call her a slut, call her a rebel, Jess doesn’t quite give a shit; she likes the feeling of empowerment that sex gives her. Moving to South Dakota hasn’t been the most thrilling time of her life, but she’ll make it work. The only question her parents have for her is if Jess can avoid another incident.[/indent]
