They are known for their insistence on ceremony and tradition. They blazon their arms with a black broken wheel on a field of green and their words are "No Wheel Left Broken". This stands true for the fact that their house was founded by Aric Waynwood, a renowned wainwright and they pride themselves on the quality of their craftsmanship. Ironoaks Castle, also known as Ironoaks, is the seat of House Waynwood in the Vale of Arryn. It is located east of the Eyrie and west of Old Anchor and is situated by a lake. A river runs east from the lake to the narrow sea. It is closer to the Eyrie than any other castle except the Bloody Gate. R e c e n t H i s t o r y Loyally serving House Arryn and supplying the knights of the Vale with quality armors and weaponry, House Waynwood particularly prides itself on the quality of the shields made from the forest surrounding Ironoaks Castle. They have been permitted to remain a powerful house because of their focus on craftsmanship, handling the majority of weapons-making within the Vale. The house is currently in mourning of Lord Thomas and Lady Martha, both of whom were robbed and murdered by mountain clans on their way back to Ironoaks after attending a mummer's farce. The two of them made the ideal pair, always supporting one another. Compared to her two younger siblings, she has been considered ghostly or sickly, though none would say such a thing to her directly for fear of arousing her ire. In terms of fashion, Margot oft dresses in any fashion available to her that is atypical of the Vale; preferring dresses that expose her shoulders and back. She absolutely loathes the traditional feathered, high collared attire the Vale is known for.

D e s c r i p t i o n & B i o g r a p h y

Margot was a happy child, playful and curious, exploring every corner of Ironoaks Castle, carefree in her youthful innocence. Many would say that she was an image of perfection, caring for her younger sister Dahlia and embodying her mother Martha is all ways possible. That is, until Lady Martha miscarried after a tragic fall down a staircase when Margot was 13 years of age. The event left Lady Martha immensely depressed, the Maester warning her that she may not be able to bear anymore children weighing heavy on her shoulders. It had also seemed to change Margot; withdrawing into herself, becoming more temperamental and easily irritable. The smiling child was gone and in its place remained a woman with the weight of the house bearing heavily on her shoulders. When she flowered a year later, Margot was thrust into the social circles in hopes of finding a suitable husband for a house with no male heirs. Feast after tourney after banquet, Margot fluttered to and fro, trying to capture a suitor and as of today, has had two - both of which withdrew their offers of marriage within a fortnight of having been made. The resentful and volatile Marguerite continues to pursue a suitor though, the House no longer bears on her shoulders. However, she will remind anyone who dares challenge her that she is the eldest of the House and as such, bears much responsibility.

Dahlia Waynwood (132 - )
[i]
Black of Hair. Aside from the feminine structure of her face, Dahlia most resembles her father, carrying his eye color as well as tone of skin. She is lithe and has what is considered a dancers body. She can often been seen wearing dresses typical to the Vale; high collared accented with feathers, lengths of thin cloths flowing from her waist down to the floor.

D e s c r i p t i o n & B i o g r a p h y

With the help of her older sister Margot, Dahlia, too, grew up curious and carefree. She would oft join her on her adventures in the walls of Ironoaks, making it a point to learn the name of every member of staff they stumbled upon. In her mind, these were the people who gave their house their strength; the stones that the walls of Ironoaks consisted of. If one were to be lost, the whole wall could collapse. The tragic miscarriage of what was believed to be the first male heir of Ironoaks left the House changed. A haze of misfortune hung thick like a fog no matter where one went and rooms fell silent whenever a Waynwood entered. Dahlia, unlike her sister, focused on strengthening her mother after the devastating event; she would request to take her lessons with Lady Martha and join her for her meals in her chambers when she was still too miserable to share a meal with the rest of the family. As time passed, Lady Martha improved and the whole of the House seemed to release a pent up breath when she would be found present at social gatherings or simply seen smiling in the corridors. Dahlia had flowered late but, upon her mother's insistence, would join Margot in attending the numerous tournaments and feasts. She hung back at said events, doing what she could to cast the best light on her sister and doing anything possible to not draw attention to herself. Marriage was not something Dahlia was interested in at a young age, certainly not as much as Margot. Only recently after the death of her parents has Dahlia even begun to consider actively searching for a suitor of her own. However, it comes as a second priority to assisting her younger brother Bruce in supporting House Waynwood in its time of need. He excels in his studies though he finds little joy or excitement in them, preferring to practice armed combats. Since his parents tragic death, he is normally seen with the Maester on his heels, practically his shadow.

Maester Alfred - Age 58
[i]
Hair of Snow. With the death of Lord Thomas and Lady Martha, Maester Alfred has been dutifully serving Lord Bruce and helping in any way possible to mold the young Lord. It is not uncommon to find him reminding the young boy that one need not wield a sword to be considered a knight, noting that even though he is frail, the Maesters are sometimes called Knights of the Mind. To his pleasure, this normally results in Lord Bruce pouring himself into his studies a bit more. His chain links consist of the following metals: Silver, Iron, Black Iron, Copper, and Pale Steel. Respectively, they represent his expertise in: medicines and healing, warcraft, ravenry, history, as well as smithing.
