The World

The Main Land (North)

The Crystal Queen rules at the cities heart. Her royal guard is none other than the infamous Order, the elite knights of Senefer. The capital is also home to the Guild. Many flock here for knowledge, fortune, or both.

Priam (East)

Where the roleplay begins. Degar is like the capital of the island. It was once one of the safest cities in all of Priam- although this standard has changed since the rise of the Maw. Still, many apprentice craftknights flock here to be sworn into the service, receive their beasts, and begin their journey to become the heroes of the land. The taint has not yet reached this place. Gentle creatures graze here. They are aligned to the element of Wind. (The games show monkies as being part of this race- but I'll open this up to any kind of fantasy animal)
or

Guardian Beasts (Elements/spells/skills)
All Guardian Beasts start off with an element- this is their aligned element that is linked to the dimension that they come from. However- this does not mean that your creature cannot develop a new element or learn new skills and spells from other elements. How Guardian Beasts develop new abilities: Your Guardian Beast holds great potential. Despite who they were in their previous dimension- they reach Priam being able to do very little element-wise. Meaning they (for a wind element, for example) could only use small bursts of wind for attacks or (for water aligned) manipulate water into attacks. New moves and skills can be learned simply through training alongside and befriending your creature. Roque has studied each element and knows exactly what each creature would need to reach their next level of ability. As for the mechanics of the rp and how this will work- I'll be handing out the abilities to your creatures. Once I feel like your character and creature have grown enough. All new abilities start off weak. I’ll update you each time their abilities increase in power. I’ll make mentions in my world posts, for example: [Name of Beast] can now spit fire! (weak) and Update!: [Name of Beast] can now spit fire [mild] **the scale will be Weak, Mild, Strong and Full Potential. if you want examples of what exactly that looks like in the world I’ll provide an example with each update.

Honor System
*wip. This section will be constantly revised throughout the course of the rp. Check it often.
All characters start off with 0, or neutral, honor. This system determines how the world treats your character. Honor can be gained based on positive interactions with the world/story/other characters. Honor points can be taken away and even dip into the negatives based on negative interactions with the world/story/other characters. Your creatures will also change based on your honor. With neutral honor the world will be fair towards your character. Townsfolk do not know your character. Merchants will sell their wares at normal prices. With positive honor the world as a whole will favor your character more. Townsfolk begin to recognize you and even know your name (certain levels of honor gain you fans, which may lead to gifts). Merchants mark down your prices and some even offer to show you their rarer items for sale. Taverns mark down their room prices. NPCs are friendlier toward your character and are more willing to help you. Gentler monsters are more willing to be tamed by your character. In contrast, groups of outlaws and bandits will not trust you. Tainted monsters target you more. With negative honor the world as a whole will not favor your character as much. Townsfolk will know your name, yes, but their respect will be out of fear. Certain levels of negative honor will cause Townsfolk to avoid you and refuse to work with you, or outright act aggressive towards you. Merchants will mark up their prices or refuse to sell to you altogether. Taverns will not let you stay. NPCs act negatively towards your character, although some will favor them. Monsters in general will not trust you. Negative honor, however, gives you the ability to tame tainted monster. Bandits and outlaws will know you and treat you with respect and sometimes even kindly. You'll have access to an underground network of items and things if your Dishonor is high enough.

Taming/Slaying Systems

A major component of this rp is taming monsters. When your player successfully tames a monster the following happens: a gate is opened and the creature returns where it came from, your players stats increase, your creatures stats increase and they may gain an ability. Some creatures drop items when the gate closes. How to Tame Monsters Each Guardian Beast knows a simple spell to banish creatures back through gates. For the spell to work, though, the beast must be held still or knocked unconscious. However, most tamers simply craft a weapon imbued with the spell. Once the creature is defeated it will automatically be transported through a gate, not killing it in the process. Basic rules: 1.Not all monsters are tameable. This includes: other Guardian Beasts. 2. Your player can only tame monsters weaker or at the same level as they are. Meaning your tamer dressed in rags, armed with a spoon and their teeny puffball companion cannot and will not tame a three headed dragon. Slaying Another major component is slaying monsters. This usually pertains to hunting down tainted or otherwise dangerous monsters. Monsters are also hunted for food, crafting items, and population control. When a player successfully slays a monster the family may happen: your players stats increase, your creatures stats increase and they may gain an ability. The monsters body can then be harvested for crafting items (but only if stated in the post) For example: GM Post: A wolf jumps out of nowhere and attacks your character. It is weaker than your character. Likelihood of your character winning is 70%. Possible drop items: fang, wolf pelt, gold. Your post: I kilt him. here is how he death. GM Post: [your characters name] has successfully killed the wolf. They gain some experience. You can collect the wolves pelt. Your Guardian is now more familiar with how the wolves of this area fight. How to Slay Monsters Slaying monsters is part of the job. And this is done by simply killing them with weapons not enchanted with the Gate spell.
How to Increase stats
Leveling will be a component in this game, but it’ll be mostly just for me. I’ll be keeping little profiles on each of your characters so I can determine how the world treats them. I promise I’ll be fair. Stat points will be dished out along with honor. So basically: if your character reads some scrolls found out on a mission, their intelligence increases. If they defeat a bunch of monsters last mission? Their strength increases. etc etc. But remember I determine the number of monsters encountered and if your character stumbles across an item. Play normally and don’t worry about leveling. I’ll be keeping track.
Post Order. Its necessary for the systems of this rp. So here’s how the IC thread is probably going to look.
GM Post: The world setting is blah blah. The mission is kill all of the monsters. There are 8 wolves, which are weak to all magic elements. Wolf A and B attack player 1, they may need help. Wolf C watches player 2, what is it plotting.. Wolf D attacks player 3, this creature is desperate and weaker than the others. Wolf E circles player 4, it is much larger and slower than the others, but definitely stronger. Wolf F keeps its distance from player 5, it might have a rare item. Wolf G and H attack player 6, they may need help. All players can successfully tame or kill these creatures. Player1: Manages to take down one of the wolves and weakens the other. P2: Shoots a blast of magic at the wolf to kill it. P3: Is bitten but fights off the wolf, intending to kill it. P4:Uses a Gate enchanted weapon to tame the wolf. P5: Attacks wolf F to kill it. P6: Panics and runs. GM: Wolf A is dead, its pelt can be collected. Weakened Wolf B runs from Player 1, their Guardian is now more familiar with how to fight the wolves of this area. Wolf C is dead, its pelt can be collected, P2’s companion has fought wolves often enough to learn how to Bite (weak) like them. Wolf D is dead, its bite left a minor injury to Character 3 (-2 health, +bleeding), its fangs can be collected, P3’s Guardian is now more likely to land critical damage against wolves. Wolf E is successfully tamed, P4’s creature has learned enough about Wolves to learn when they are near. Wolf F is dead, a pearl falls from its mouth and can be collected along with its pelt, P5’s creature has fought wolves often enough now to learn how to Eat (passive) like them. Wolves G and H give chase. Player1: collects the pelt and ignores P6. P3: Ignores the pelt and helps P6, attacks wolf H. P2: collects pelt and sends Guardian to distract Wolf G. P5: Attacks wolf G intending to kill it. P6: *does not post a reply P4: *does not post a reply GM: *after waiting a day or two for P6 and P4 to reply* Player1 now has (-2 honor) for ignoring a team mate in need. Player3 (+3 honor) for valuing a teammate over items, Wolf H is dead, its pelt and fangs can now be collected. Player2 (+2 honor) for helping a teammate, Wolf G is distracted. P5 (+2 honor) for helping a teammate, Wolf G is dead, its pelt, fangs, and some gold can now be collected. (Followed by a short summary of the now completed mission, my characters comments etc)
