I'm guessing it's the Honor system. No, I don't think my guy is going to be very much liked by the NPCs but I imagine him as being incredibly effective & powerful thus hard to ignore on actual missions.

Oh and just so this doesn't appear as criticism, I have absolutely no problem with the Honor system. Quite the opposite actually!
