Nancy was determined to have a good day. Refusing to grit her teeth and instead taking a long, slow inhale followed by a long, slow exhale, she forced a smile on her face. Her back was aching and she hadn't even done anything! Maybe she had twisted in her sleep or something. But she was not going to take a pain killer yet. She was still too new, and this wasn't like a regular hospital. This place had unstable people. She wanted to be fully alert. Or at least as alert as her back pain allowed.
