Shiranui had to face Juan in the semi-final and having just beaten him for a badge, he was confident in his chances in spite of a type disadvantage.  The timer started.  "Go Milotic!"
"Niwatori, I choose you!"  Both coordinators sent their Pokémon out.
"Milotic, Aqua Tail!"
"Niwatori, Blaze Kick!  Mega Ring activate!"  As both Pokémon charged at each other, Shiranui activated his Mega Ring and Niwatori glowed as he mega evolved.  Milotic swung its wet tail and Niwatori's leg ignited as he swung with a kick.  Serpentine tail met avian leg and the attacks resulted in a cloud of steam.  Both coordinators lost points with Juan losing more than Shiranui.  Niwatori's Speed Boost ability triggered.
"Milotic, Disarming Voice!"
"Niwatori, Flame Charge!"  Niwatori charged at Milotic, this time with his whole body on fire and shoulder checked the serpent.  Milotic let off a pink glow as it let out a cry that was soothing to the ears.
"Milotic, Water Pulse!"
"Niwatori, dodge with High Jump Kick!"  Milotic fired an orb of water and Niwatori jumped high into the air, dodging the orb.  The Mega Blaziken had a knee out as he fell from the jump.  Niwatori scored an excellent hit and Milotic had barely hung on.
"Milotic, Recover!"
"Niwatori, Flare Blitz!"  With his Speed at triple its base amount, Niwatori proceeded to ignite his body in bright white flames and charge at Milotic, scoring a direct hit.  Milotic was down and the judges declared the knockout with a buzz and red crosses on their screens; earning Shiranui a spot in the grand final.
