What about this region's Champion and Elite Four? Were they doing anything about it? In fact he didn't know who they were on account of being new to this region, but nevermind that, he should work on himself first. Maybe once he became strong enough, these things don't need to happen anymore.

Resting conventionally will work too, it just simply takes longer.
