Born in Hillsbrad and raised on the outskirts of Gilneas, Melody was a cynical and narcissistic little shit who worked as an assistant in one of the smaller town libraries. Her alluring appearance was offset by her hideous personality, and she toyed with many men in order to get what she wanted. One could say she was spoilt rotten in her youth, and this persisted right up to the Scourge invasion of Lordaeron. She was able to use her accumulated fortune in gifts from potential suitors to buy her safety, and at the worst of times even stooped to using her body as a means of payment. Melody was one of the last the fall; her escorted caravan was ambushed by gargoyles and she died in what is now known as the Eastern Plaguelands. As a mindless servant of the scourge, Melody is quite lucky to be largely unharmed during her forced servitude. She was used to carry information to the more intelligent undead forces for several years, a sort of 'messenger ghoul' thanks to her lithe and agile frame. In fact, it was during a long-distance journey that she stumbled further and further away from the Lich King's influence, and managed to regain some consciousness. Scared and confused, Melody lashed out at a passing Gnoll and was consequentially shot in the face. The shrapnel from the cheap blunderbuss wasn't enough to kill her, but she blacked out - and the Gnoll dragged her body back towards Sylvanas' forces. This was how Melody joined the Forsaken. The ill-fated headshot caused quite the drastic change in Melody. Certain parts of the brain were affected in the wound, and she constantly displayed an almost unnerving sense of optimism and cheeriness. Her agility and flexibility was put to good use as a rogue, but it was later discovered that she was actively drinking toxins and preservatives at an alarming rate; her dulled, undead senses were coupling with a damaged part of brain tissue which caused specific cravings and euphoric responses. Affectionately nicknamed 'The Drunken Forsaken', Melody was more of a morale-booster than an actual fighter. Her short attention span and physical weakness made it impossible to do much on the frontlines, but her quirky, eccentric personality made her into something of a token mascot who encouraged and rallied the Forsaken. When the Forsaken regained the Undercity and Melody's head was finally examined, some of the shrapnel was fortunately embedded into the tissue in such a way that made it possible to remove without severely affecting her functionality. This also had its drawbacks as small flashes of Melody's original personality shone through, such as her cruelty and vanity. The damage, however, was irreversible; this new Melody had become something significantly more dangerous than the lovable potion-chugger from the reclamation of Lordaeron, and this began to be noticed on the battlefield. She wasn't falling in battle; in fact, she was becoming faster and stronger by the second. She was sent out on many campaigns, proudly displaying the Dark Lady's banner (in some cases using the flagpole to impale her foes) whilst she ducked, dived and slashed her way through Outlands and Northrend. Songs were sung of her, she started to ascend from myths and rumours into engaging stories of her antics in taverns all over Azeroth. It was no surprise when Melody became a monk in the Pandaria campaign; her name was something to both joke about and fear. Her unpredictability made her loyal to none but the Banshee Queen and she merrily followed the Forsaken Army into battle. Why are you joining up with the Wardens: Because the Dark Lady wills it.
