Some would say that she is a living and breathing embodiment of the codes of chivalry; rumors abound of her adroit combat ability, steel will, and tremendous pride as an armored paragon of law and justice. The steely hammer of order, a powerful individual of noble blood and even more gallant feats, Adira Chasida Bat’Amira, otherwise Adira the Righteous, Daughter of Amira; sole child and heiress to a small Ewori populated Satrap-District within Vaald. Overzealous exaggeration of Adira’s qualities aside, Adira is indeed a woman of many positive attributes, with few faults to detract from her firmly rising reputation. Steady yet intense emotionally, independent, and highly objective focused, Adira is a woman of controlled mien and poised decorum with a unique code of ethics that she follows steadfastly. Though she would never admit or profess to being a good person or a philanthropist—instead preferring to refer to herself as a lady that personifies the strength of justice—she is fully capable of displaying an overall warmhearted and solid disposition that prevents her from seeming uptight, cold, or unamicably serious. She has great respect for the courageous, those who resolutely stand by their morals, and those with a willingness to protect others; all aspects she desires greatly out of anyone she would willingly associate herself with. Contrasting her elegantly long hair and feminine (though compactly muscular) frame, Adira is admittedly far from elegant. Many times, both detractors and supporters of the DrakenForged have noted her as being stubborn, unsubtle, masculine, and strong-willed, though she remains respectful and reverent of those in authority or the people that hold her loyalties. Rather than irredeemably stoic or unapproachably unfriendly, Adira is simply a very serious girl with an extreme love for justice. As previously noted, Adira is highly objective focused, following her own code of ethics as a compass to complete any tasks given to her and achieve victory. She is skilled at analyzing people in the reference of daily affairs and combat, and highly conscious of her own limitations. In combat, she is well known for allowing opponents to follow conditions of surrender so that their lives may be spared or even to prevent their incarceration, should she see them as irrelevant to the larger picture or—to her the occasional ire of her comrades and superiors—guilty of a crime too small to be thrown in a dungeon for. Adira is nonetheless highly strict of those on the darker side of the law, and holds a no-nonsense, extremely direct attitude toward the mission at hand. Though of a race once known for its subversive and underhanded tactics, cheap tricks and indirect methods of battle are anathema to her; further, she draws a very firm line upon who is and is not involved in a conflict, going through great lengths to protect bystanders or otherwise uninvolved civilians. Freed of unnecessary complications to the battlefield like civilians and those who have already surrendered, though, Adira deeply enjoys the innervating thrill of a good battle against a worthy opponent so long as they’re relevant to her mission or fully willing to battle with her. Outside direct combat and off mission, Adira handles herself much the same, though with a reduced intensity to her disposition. Unlike the likes of the great Crosos Granz, a knightly golem known quite well for his sarcastic wit, Adira known to belong to a more stony, independent, and reserved ilk; disciplined and sensitive to her surroundings, she is typically a relatively mellow woman to have in one’s company, known for having a blunt, though not entirely humorless attitude. She is a seemingly naturally calm and collected person that is slow to anger or upset, though in such moments of rage she is known to have an intense and focused fury that is quite a sight to behold. However, while considered peerless as a knight, Adira holds the unfortunate predilection of being considered completely unweddable by her male peers, instead, to her great chagrin and even greater confusion, holding a strangely large and disproportionate fanbase among her female peers. Despite her reputation for being as beautiful as she is powerful, and her race’s reputation for its skill in allure, the arts of romance and the likes of proper romantic pursuits are completely unknowable to the DrakenForged. As a consequence of a childhood spent reading of tales of knights, Adira holds a highly romanticized view of what it means to be one belonging to such an order, extending not only to her interactions with others, but her idealized view on love and relationships, to Adira, the gateway to a man’s heart is through manic enthusiasm for battle and competition. A commanding willpower and shows of strength—physicality being something she has in droves—are the paradigms she has chosen to champion to win over a man’s heart. Virtues of which, are perfectly fine for a knight who commands troops and protects the peace, but not so much so for a woman in a society and profession that admits to a preference for submissive, more passively supportive wives. Unfortunately, telling Adira as such would only elicit much confusion, though she might temporarily understand that her relatively manly attitude might attract other females… This problem compounded by her pet wyvern often getting in the way of even her more successful pursuits, and the fact that her magical affinities place her out to be far stronger than most men. An only child and heiress to the district her mother governed as a Satrap, her admittedly lonesome formative years saw her immersed in books and talking to anyone she could reach and, through both their tales and her own personal experiences, the consequent beginning of her life-long admiration of knights. To the young heiress, the armored protectors were the perfect heroes: clad in gleaming armor, strong without peer, and followed around by storied tales of gallantry, honor, and justice. Knights, to the young mind of the young Ewori noble, were paragons of society—of all the professions, to strive to be. The stars of destiny in those rose-tinted early years had, however, portended a different, mundane future for the young noble. Noblesse Oblige carried a definition to Adira in those days; rather than a woman of direct combat and thrilling physical battles, she was much more suited to a life at home, learning to become a proper lady of high society. Her aspirations of becoming one of the armored super-heroes of her dreams were shunted aside in favor of more realistic notions. Life as a noble had not been particularly rough for Adira, and though her tutors were certainly strict, their tutelage had instilled within her the valuable virtue of discipline and laid the groundwork for her present-day cunningly brutal approach to battle. It had also been under their tutelage that, through myriad history lessons to fortify her decisions combined with fictional tales meant to enrich her eloquence, she learned of those that protected her home. Often left alone when not within her study hall receiving practical preparative lessons, it had been between her tutoring that Adira was given plenty of free time and a fair degree of freedom. In those free hours, she discovered a penchant love for books and a starry-eyed admiration for the protagonists of her fairytales, stealing away her free hours and a fair share of her evenings practicing swordcraft against imaginary criminals. Excited by those stories and already beginning to form the masculine personality she is known for today (much to the horror and admonishment of her mother), Adira soon began to augment her almost worshiping adoration for Knights by attending parades. It had been, some years down the line, proceeding one of those parades that Adira had gained her first taste of discouragement. Though she often practiced her swordsmanship, she had no proper instructor. Firm in her conviction and with a wish to break the familial trend of sedentary nobility—a notion that her mother had discouraged as childish fancy—Adira approached a particularly handsome knight with the intent of going under his wing. To the knight, Adira had certainly contained the motivation and moral compass to become one of his order, and though she had been taller than average, she was almost irredeemably flimsily built for a life of combat, with a body that would have been much more suited to dancing or some other peaceful purpose, and though she had a magical affinity for electricity, she could barely produce the faintest sparks. However, without a heart to step on a young girl’s dreams, the kind knight gave her a physical trial to be completed a month down the line, which, even with magical aid, when the promised time had arrived and Adira had taken the test, she failed spectacularly, forcing the knight to unfortunately refuse her aspirations. By then, Adira, exiting her adolescent years, had the maturity within her not to curse her lot in life, admitting to herself the reality that a girl slight of frame and meager with magic would simply not last long on even short patrols, much less a battlefield. As painful as it was to admit, a life of politics and mental intrigue was certainly not a bad one by any means, governing a small and modest district in the titanic city of Vaald where the crime was low, wealth was in abundance, and life was rich and idyll. In no way was there shame in being strong of mind and to hold sway over thousands, if not tens of thousands of people; in a way it would even have been a sort of knight-like thing to do, to live a life of protecting her familial power and position, and the safety of those that would be beneath her office. Unquestionably powerful compared to the likes of most mortals, and immensely rare, their kind number one to five-hundred thousand, united in classification only by the pacts they hold with dragon-kind, giving them their name. Drakenforged are marked by the ethereal unison of their souls with a dragonkin, also known as a Soul Forge; the arts of binding two souls together forgotten by most mortals, and the unison itself is rife with danger, for the ever-looming threat of Moonscratch threatens two mortals of the same coil, and the death of one half of the forge would lead to the immediate termination of the other. For this threatening price of danger, the parties involved in the binding are granted access to glean upon one another’s thoughts, and allowed the abilities, even the physicality and magical prowess of the other. To say that a mortal handling the power of an immortal dragon is powerful would be a great understatement. Adira is no exception to this trend, and appends “Bulwark” to her status as a Drakenforge to signify her goals to protect the weak as a knight of honor.[/color] [h3][color=a35656]Abilities & Traits[/color][/h3] [color=f08080]♦[b]Draconic Soul Forge[/b]♦ [sup]Personal/Class[/sup] [hider]Adira is Soul Forged with the greater Wyvern, Ma-Granme-Gagis-Urr-Jouee-Mea, shortened to Jouee (pronounced ju-weh, like jewel without the L). Gaining the traits of her Wyvern, her natural affinity for Electricity Magic is augmented exponentially and her physique is significantly more powerful than other men and elves, her sense of awareness, ability to glean situations, and five senses are also bolstered. Furthermore, the Soul Forge allows her to understand her Wyvern’s speech and scry his thoughts, while he is granted the same. However, should either Adira or Jouee perish, the other will follow, and if, impossibly, the soul forge is broken, Adira would likely become quite weak and diminished[/hider] ♦[b]Voltaic Blessing[/b]♦ [sup]Personal[/sup] [hider]Adira is magically inclined toward electricity, and it is this strong magical affinity that enables Jouee's soul forging.[/hider] ♦[b]Attitude Conversion[/b]♦ [sup]Racial/Personal[/sup] [hider]The Ewori are, bluntly speaking, a rather promiscuous race, most especially the less… Experienced members. Adira, despite her nature being changed by Soul Forging, is no real exception to the promiscuity of her race. She does, however, have the ability to suppress much of her sexual urges by eating in excess. Assuredly, this really is a form of magic.[/hider] ♦[b]Knight of Storms[/b]♦ [sup]Personal[/sup] [hider]Adira has spent the better part of twelve years vigilantly, religiously, and constantly practicing her arts. She has a firm grasp of her own physical limits and the limits of her weapons and armor, and maintains a fair reverence for any opponent she fights, respecting each one as if it can be theoretically stronger than her. Due to her ability to take to the skies astride her Wyvern but also requiring the ability to fight on the ground, she has adapted two fighting forms using her three weapons and her great shield, the forms depending on whether or not she is mounted. The basics of swordsmanship are well known to her, but she is certainly most comfortable with the simplicity of her mace or twin lances, and uses them as if extensions of her own body with a powerful grace.[/hider] ♦[b]Stormclad[/b]♦ [sup]Personal[/sup] [hider]Adira is able to consciously and purposely equip and unequip her Ashtan armor through summoning magics, placing or replacing her armor within the ethereal realm from which its materials are made. A short incantation can equip or unequip all or parts of her armor, and it is difficult, though certainly not impossible, for an enemy to banish.[/hider] ♦[b]Perdition and Purgation[/b]♦ [sup]Class — Air[/sup] [hider]Named after Adira’s twin lances, Adira is able to violently detonate the air around her lances through electrical reactions. This serves the dual purpose of breaching defenses and expelling anything impaled by her massive weapons. A simple use of her powers and a mere extension of her weapons’ powers, the ability is relatively light on Adira’s magical reserves. This skill can not be used on Moroa, her mace.[/hider] ♦[b]Stormcast[/b]♦ [sup]Class — Ground[/sup] [hider]Channeling her energies through her mace, Moroa, Adira wreaths the flanged head of her weapon in magical energy. The very act of gripping her mace and bringing it to bear upon an enemy is enough to activate this skill, and it is almost always active throughout a fight so long as she is holding onto her mace. The electricity surging through the mace can be discharged a fair distance to a target of Adira’s choosing, and can also be used for non-lethal purposes to stun and disorient. This skill can not be used on Tiaur and Abaddon, her twin lances. [/hider] ♦[b]Onslaught Tread[/b]♦ [sup]Class — Ground[/sup] [hider]From a scientific perspective, this is the ability for Adira to grant superconductivity to her boots and electromagnetically levitate herself off of the ground. In this sense, Adira appears to skim just off of the ground with speed unexpected of her armored form. To onlookers, it would appear as if she is riding on lightning itself. This ability is fairly exhausting if used in excess, and is mostly used for bursts of speed. Notably, Adira can also use the ability to kick enemies for a somewhat shocking surprise.[/hider] ♦[b]Shellshock[/b]♦ [sup]Class — Air and Ground[/sup] [hider]An exhausting two part skill that can be utilized as two individual skills if the need arises. The first part involves a surge of electromagnetism similar to Onslaught Tread, where Adira stomps on the ground, sending a short ranged bolt of energy beneath an opponent and launches them from the ground to send them barreling into the sky. The second part is an electric lance of searing plasma, formed in Adira’s hands or floating nearby. The lance is launched like a ballista bolt at the enemy, often ending them rightly.[/hider] ♦[b]Lightning Fall[/b]♦ [sup]Class — Air to Ground[/sup] [hider]Adira requires a way to quickly disperse herself from her Wyvern and get to the ground. Her answer is Lightning Fall, with which she teleports herself off of her Wyvern, transforming into a bolt of lightning that crashes into the ground beneath and violently dispersing the transmorgrifying magics in a shockwave around her. The shockwave is primarily concussive in nature and will knock most people off their feet and make their hair stand on end, unless Adira directly teleports into someone, where the results are often too gruesome to be spoken of. Adira is unable to conjure this transforming magic from the ground and can only do it when in direct proximity of Jouee.[/hider] ♦[b]Voltaic Fortress[/b]♦ [sup]Class — Ground[/sup] [hider]Summoning the depths of her power, Adira calls forth wisps of pure energy to revolve around her. These fairy-like wisps form an energy field around the Drakenforged where they attack anything with harmful intent toward Adira. Projectiles are often outright vaporized into puffs of ozone and assailants are shocked into oblivion. Adira can set this skill onto automatic where it protects her without her need to micromanage it, though this is often needlessly exhausting. More efficiently, she is able to wreath her shield in the energies, though it is still extremely exhausting and can not be used for long.[/hider][/color] - - – – – — — — ——— [color=f08080]♦[/color] ——— — — — – – – - - [color=a35656][u][h2]Equipment & Personal Items[/h2][/u][/color] [color=f08080][hider=Weapons and Armor] ♦[b]Stormclad[/b]♦ [sup]Magical/Ashtan[/sup] A phantasmal suit of armor made of a material only available to the most powerful of magical smiths. It is significantly heavier than steel and nearly indestructible, save for weaknesses in the joints. Stormclad covers nearly every inch of Adira’s front, though begins to taper off toward the rear. It has a full helmet piece, though Adira often elects for a half mask that covers her nose and throat, leaving only the horn-like hair clips that she can arc electricity from. ♦[b]Mercygiver[/b]♦ [sup]Mundane/Steel[/sup] A thin, quenched steel dagger essential to almost any knight's kit. It's used to deliver a mercy kill to injured foes or allies by slipping through the gaps of armor. It appears completely unused and untarnished. ♦[b]Abaddon (אֲבַדּוֹן‎) and Tiaur (טִהוּר)[/b]♦ [sup]Mundane/Aurichalcum[/sup] Meaning Purgation and Perdition, respectively, a twin pair of oversized lances in black and white with golden trim. When wielded, their crossguards cover much of Adira's forearms. They are lacquered with several runes to better facilitate Adira's magic. When not in use, Abaddon and Tiaur have sheathes on Jouee's saddle. ♦[b]Moroa (מוֹרָא)[/b]♦ [sup]Mundane/Aurichalcum[/sup] Meaning Awe, this is a fairly simple looking flanged mace that appears to be made of a black metal. It is engraved with several runes to better facilitate Adira's magic. When not in use, there's a socket strapped to Jouee's tail that can mount the mace. Jouee can then use Moroa as a tail whip. ♦[b]Voltaic Shield[/b]♦ [sup]Mundane/Adamantium[/sup] A powerful shield forged with incredibly rare Aedrasilian ores. Would fetch an incredibly pretty penny if stolen. When not in use, the shield acts as Jouee's breastplate, lashed around his lower neck.[/hider] [hider=Accessories and Supplies] ♦[b]Promise[/b]♦ [sup]Magical/Gold and Platinum[/sup] A talisman depicting a many-petaled flower with concentric circles in the center. It's engraved with many runes that faintly glow in the darkness. Adira will not say what its purpose is. ♦[b]Oath of Vaald[/b]♦ [sup]Mundane/Gold[/sup] A gold medallion engraved with the emblem of Vaald. This item signifies Adira as a trusted knight in the eyes of the Vaunted Council and empowers her to take policing actions. The medallion was given to Adira by her mother. ♦[b]Rucksack[/b]♦ [sup]Mundane/Leather[/sup] A utilitarian bag that can be slung around the back or fastened to Jouee's saddle. It holds quite a fair amount. ♦[b]Various travel supplies[/b]♦ Ropes, a flask of oil, several flasks of water, provisions of food, two pairs of shackles, several changes of clothing, a spare pair of boots, reading spectacles, and Adira's money.[/hider][/color] - - – – – — — —[b]——— [color=f08080]☆[/color] ———[/b]— — — – – – - - [color=a35656][u][h2]Miscellaneous Notes[/h2][/u][/color] [color=f08080]♦[b]This Section[/b]♦ Some of this sheet is most likely a little vague in some places, and I’m quite sure some of it feels shoehorned in or poorly written. So this section is mostly to help elucidate some of those more esoteric or furtive aspects. Also, I’m very sorry for all the electricity puns. ♦[b]Soul Forges[/b]♦ A Soul Forge is entirely unbreakable through normal circumstances, and even for the Dragonkin it is a contract that requires extremely rare circumstances, which makes it a contract that would cause a Dragon to greatly hesitate when faced with breaking it. Suitable mortals for a Soul Forge are rare and greatly coveted by the draconic kind, and it takes a certain mind and a strong, singular elemental affinity that precisely matches the dragonkin. What precisely qualifies as a “certain mind” is primarily a matter of conviction and a capacity for knowledge. In other words, a simpleton with no direction in life would be completely unsuitable to be Soul Forged, or even a genius with strong elemental affinities but no focus or goals. Dragons covet knowledge above all, and as such mark themselves with pleasure as among Aedrasil’s greatest scholars. As such, they often seek out powerful mages or magical warriors with whom they can travel with and gather intelligence. In addition to this, Dragonkin are born in broods of about 20 at a time, and they are initially just named as numbers in order of their hatching. Their coming of age ceremony involves going through a trial and engraving upon their souls a goal for their life, which also grants them innate magical powers. And it's when their trial is finished that a dragonkin is permitted to take a name, which is actually a full-on sentence describing their goal and what they wish to bring back to dragonkin society upon their return. ♦[b]Attitude Conversion[/b]♦ No really, it seems like a silly thing to require as an ability, but this is actually magic. She also gets to convert a lot of that food into pure energy. It’s absolutely terrible for her wallet, though. ♦[b]Ashtan, Aurichalcum, and Adamantium[/b]♦ Ashtan is named after Ashtus, and is a form of "living" metal that is created purely out of magic. It's the strongest material on Aedrasil, but also an utter bitch to forge and even harder to fabricate. It doesn't exist in any natural form and has to be summoned from the Aether itself atom by atom (or... whatever mana is). Contrary to its magical origins and ability to be summoned, it's not incredibly conductive to magic, making it a good armor. Aurichalcum, or Orichalum is a mythical metal with properties similar to Platinum, it's a step below Adamantium in strength, but it's also quite pretty and is extremely capable at channeling magic. The latter property makes it a remarkably poor choice for armor. Like Ashtan and Adamantium, it's prohibitively hard to work with. Adamantium is silver and also platinum-like, it's the strongest naturally occurring metal on Aedrasil and requires master smiths to work with. You can tell something is made from Adamantium from an incredibly faint ringing noise that it gives off at all times. It's non-magnetic and not very good at channeling magic, making for great armor and shields.
