The faceless man walks by again. Click. Click. It seems he is looking for something. The sands have long since overtaken the city, and whatever he is looking for is probably gone. The burning circle in the sky beats down. Click. Click. His footsteps echo in the empty tunnel. He has been here for seven nights and days. There must be a word for that. I'm not sure what it is. Anyways, he doesn't stop. He just keeps walking. I'm struggling to keep up with him. Click. Click. He isn't faceless. No, I just can't see his face. It's obscured by a kind of mask. I've seen masks like it. They're made of rubber, with two glass plates for seeing things. And around where the mouth is, there's a filter or something. I don't know the real word. Click. Click. His mask is different. The eyes and the mouth are still there, but the rubber isn't. It's like one of those, uh, things. The tubes that you look through with colored glass at the end. I don't know the word, but his mask just keeps changing color and shape. Click. Click. The faceless man doesn't have skin. At least, not that I've seen. He wears a hat, one that I've seen in pictures. It comes from a place called France. Wherever that it. Anyways, he has a coat. A big, long, brown, dirty coat. And the pockets are filled with...sand? I'm not sure. I haven't seen anything go in or out of the pockets. His hands (Or whatever should be at the end of his arms) are nonexistent. They're either in his pocket or nowhere to be seen. Click. Click. His shoes are made of wood. I thought all the wood went to rot, but his shoes are wooden. But only at the bottom. The rest are black. Leather? I'm not sure what the proper phrasing is. Click. Click. I don't think he's noticed me. He seems to be going through all the big metal skeletons. They're so big, I don't even think there's a word for them. I don't live in one. I would, but they're just too big. Oh. He reached the Hole. If you don't know, the Hole is a big glowing...pit? That sounds right. There's always creepy looking monsters around it. I don't know what they are, but they don't care about me. They're always focused on the Hole. Click. He's stopped. He's looking at the pit. The creatures turn to him. They growl. He walks down into the Hole. There is silence, then the glowing stops. The monsters collapse. And he walks back up, holding a small, green thing. It's stuck in a glass pod looking thing. There's a bunch of dirt in there too. Click. Thump. Fwoosh. The man walks forward and sets down the pod. It opens, and I see that it's a plant. I didn't think there were any left. The man pats down the dirt, and he is gone.
The child is watching me. He has been watching me. He will die soon, says the Void. The cave he uses as a home will collapse. This is the prophecy of the Void. I am the Void, and it is me. I am a being saved by it, and now it has saved life. But the child will die in 46.8 hours. How...I can't quite bring the word to mind. Unfortunate, perhaps."
