Name: Alais Méténier (usually called Alice) Age: 18 Appearance: Looking more like a girl in her early teens, and with how she acts when she gets carried away, it's pretty accurate to portray her. The purple eyes are just the color of her contact lenses, though they turn to red when she uses her ability. Personality: Her appearance gives off the semi-accurate vibe of her being a shy and quiet loner-type that usually doesn’t force herself into interaction that much, mainly due to her being somewhat socially awkward due to her sheltered life. She’s quite friendly otherwise, but at times she can come off as selfish or a jerk, mainly since she rarely put herself to think about seeing things from others’ perspective. Treats her thoughts and opinions as fact, and often goes into assumption that others agree with her even if it’s not the case. She’s quite hard to anger, and rarely says anything in a hostile manner, even words that would be seen as personal attack to others. She can be easily annoyed though, and while she's not often in a confrontational mood, she usually shows her annoyance in a more indirect way, either being passive aggressive, or attempting to one-up someone out of spite. Treats herself as the protagonist of her world’s story, and somewhat expects the world to follow suit. Her attempts on writing a novel are a proof of this, having herself as the protagonist and a paragon of virtues to a laughable extent, and she sees it as reasonable for the story, since it fits her image on how it should be. Also, this also usually have her be somewhat of a drama queen when the situation calls for it, because she believes that it's appropriate. As much as she is obnoxious once people get to know her though, she's still kind and reasonable to some degrees, and she does have doubts on whether acting like this really does her any good. It's simply that for now, she still believes herself to be infallible and refuses to feel any doubt about that "fact". History: Alais never really had much idea on what her parent did for a living. The most that she knew were how often they moved from one country to another, so often that she was barely taught her mother language. She rarely interacted with her parents outside of weekdays either. Though, even now she didn’t see it as important. She knew that they’re rich, and probably not from doing something illegal. All of this at the very least gave a figurative distance between her and her parents. She never went into formal school either. She was mostly homeschooled, and other than the kids from her neighborhood she usually (attempted) to play with, most of her interactions with others were from chatrooms and internet forums. With only distant people she couldn’t see face to face as her company growing up, it dampened her ability to socialize to some degree. Of course, living a life of comfort in what was effectively isolation would end up being quite boring, so she spent a lot of her time finding miscellaneous activities to do, while imagining how she’s actually a far more important person than she currently was who were just waiting for the chance to escape her boring life. One day, she was dissatisfied with how a novel she was a fan of ended, and that made her to decide that she’s going to write a better novel with a better ending, as a proof to her belief that even she could write a better novel than what she read. She finished up a draft after a month, and sent it to a publisher who almost immediately rejected it. There were a lot of critiques on it although Alais believed most of those critiques were false or misattributed except one: how her writing was not based on reality in any way. That one was the push she needed to start going outside to start observing how life really was. She sneaked out of her house periodically, hung out in public places like parks and malls on her lonesome while taking notes of how people behave, and interesting events that could be used as a story idea. However, one day, wandering around without much idea on how the world worked ended up with her getting cornered by several thugs on an alley. She had some idea on what probably could happen, however that wasn’t on her mind as she was busy criticizing the thugs out of annoyance. It didn’t improve her situation despite her feeling that she won the argument, and she was backed into the wall…and the next thing she remembered was waking up on the rooftop of the building behind her. She remembered looking up and hoping that she could go there somehow, but had no idea how that actually happened. That time, her power was awakened, and that fueled her belief that she was some sort of a chosen one with a taboo power after she experimented a bit more on it. She decided to change her story title to reflect the fact. Her writing became more self-absorbed and self-praising than before, and when she received the invitation letter from Jasper two months later, her ego reached critical mass for a moment. Extraordinary and special would be how she’d describe herself, and the letter acknowledging it was the proof she needed to support that image of hers. And she’s joining one of those magic academies like on the stories too. Alais were off to a good start. And so, just three or so months after she awakened her power, Alais left her home. With how little she regarded her parents, she only left a note to tell them that she’s leaving, and changed most of her contact information so they wouldn’t bother her. Her story starts now. Skills: She is quite great at cooking. Being left in home a lot of time and left with a maid whose cooking she disliked, she ended up spending her time learning to cook, both so she could eat something she like and so she can show off to the maid that even she could cook better than her. She’s also tech-savvy, and she’s good at reading and paying attention to get information she needs, although it’s dampened somewhat with her tendency to take her own conclusion and sticking to it stubbornly. Magic: ~Window of the World~ Conjuration Her awakened Conjuration-type magic complements her wish to go anywhere without being bound by anything, manifesting as an opening which leads to a designated place that she can make on any solid inorganic surfaces with a touch. Anyone can pass through them, although once she pass through any of them, the opening will immediately collapse (it will not collapse on its own if there is anything still in the middle of passing through). Due to her ability still being weak and recently awakened, the amount of times she can make an opening and how far can she make the destination location are quite limited. Her range has a maximum of ten meters, and the destination can only be locations her eyes can see. The opening can come in many sizes, but at most she can only make one that is big enough for a motorcycle to pass through. Inventory: Notebook (as in the computer), pen and notebook, smartphone, many piles of spare clothing, personal hygiene, a knife.
