Her line of the family, including herself, was born and raised in Citadel County, and saw no reason to leave. From a young age, Raven's parents trained her in magic. Her father specialized in offensive magic and her mother in healing. Raven had troubles with the offensive magic, and it became apparent early on that she would be a healer like her mother. One thing that puts Raven apart from her parents is her opinion of the Briarwhites. Her parents only have disdain for them, nothing more and nothing less. Raven, however, doesn't see them as all bad. Yes, some are bad, but why label a whole group of people? She was sure that they had good in them. Her drive to find the good in people, and help them find the good within themselves, is what pushed her to become a teacher. At 21, Raven is young for her profession. She was dedicated and got out of college early. Due to her family's presence in the county, landing a job was easy. Now Raven interacts with both Grimms and Briarwhites on a daily basis, helping them both achieve their full potential, academically that is.
