Name: Reynaldo "Rey" Riestra Age: 18 Appearance:

Rey’s fairly tall, standing at 6 feet 2, and rather lanky for his height though he sits at around 200 pounds or so. His body is lean and toned, obviously athletic, and he shows the telltale signs of martial arts conditioning training especially on his hands. Clothing-wise, he typically dresses in a reddish brown frontier fringe shirt, tough jeans and good, sturdy boots. Personality: On one hand, Rey is almost always relaxed to the point of extreme laziness. Easy going and reasonably sociable, he's usually in a good mood and all for goofing around just trying to enjoy life. In many ways strangely open-minded, he’s extremely quick to adapt to strange situations despite coming from an ostensibly normal life and takes to them with the same calm aplomb he deals with everything else. On the other hand, Rey holds himself and others to rather ridiculous standards for manliness. He's outspoken, stubborn, honest to a fault, feels every man should know how to fight and he will not take crap from anyone. Though he's not really one to start fights unprovoked, making him back down from one after he's been pissed off is nigh impossible, though it should be said that he's not usually one to hold too deeply to grudges either. There is one guiding obsession in his life: fighting. Not just engaging in it but talking technique, development, story, etc. He is something of a know-it-all when it comes to the subject, having an impressive fount of knowledge for someone that would otherwise seem something of an airhead, and clearly delights in everything related to it. His life goal is being remembered as a fighter and he’s determined to become a world heavyweight champion in multiple disciplines to achieve this. History: Rey’s life has always been rather odd. Son to journeyman boxer Eduardo Riestra, known primarily amongst pundits as a promising talent wasted away by the need to feed his ailing wife and young child, Rey’s mother passed away at an early age and he moved constantly from city to city, accompanying his father in odd jobs, training trips and countless fights. From a young age spent bouncing around "rough neighborhoods" and going from one disreputable school to the next, Reynaldo Riestra learned of the benefits of being able to throw hands and especially of doing so well. It’d become his life’s passion, and while boxing remained the most important part of it all his drive for it all would take him to kickboxing first, then full mixed martial arts after. Aside from his pugilistic ambitions, fueled in no small part by his father’s nurturing of his budding talent, Rey’s other big parental influence was his uncle Loco Mike. Loco means crazy and Mike fit that to a tee, a rather harebrained would-be scientist extremely dedicated to get rich quick schemes and avid consumer of as much material on the paranormal he could get his hands on. Not the best role model, but family is family and he’d bring some money to the household. From him, Ray got a perhaps unnecessarily open mind, and he came to accept that maybe magic, aliens and underground mole people were real. Given this life, it’s not as surprising that Rey’s extremely accepting of everything around him. It’s also, truth be told, all secondary to him. He knows what he’s gonna do with his life, it’s a very concrete goal and it’s just a matter of getting there. World heavyweight champion in boxing, kickboxing and MMA. In fact, he currently believes that being sent to Japan is a ploy by his father and uncle, trying to force him to complete his education after being kicked out of his last high school for getting into too many fights. As far as he knows, Four Winds is just some crazy japanese reformatory. Skills: -Freestyle Fistfighter: Ray’s a talented and thoughtful fighter with a great future ahead of him on that field. He is extremely dedicated and well trained, practiced and read on all fields and ranges of unarmed fighting. Though he can be called a strong "mixed martial artist" that doesn’t really mean much as any fighter in any discipline leans towards a specific approach. In Ray’s case, he very much focuses on implementing a very complete boxing skillset, which he supplements with other tools as needed. -Other: Aside from this Ray’s fluent in spanish, a solid analyst when it comes to fighting and can pluck a couple half decent notes from a guitar. Magic name: Limit Break Type: Enhancement Description: An exceedingly simple and relatively lower tier of ability as far as scope is concerned, perhaps the most basic manifestation of enhancement magic. Rather than any immediate power or readily usable effect, Limit Break specifically allows for magic-boosted personal growth through constant effort and the willpower this requires, essentially just aiding along and enhancing natural processes. Had Rey lived a simple and tranquil life, this ability likely would not have manifested or at least not in any terribly noticeable way. As it is, given the user’s one-track mind the ability is only useful toward boosting his athletic and fighting performance. Fortunately for him, Rey’s extreme dedication to pushing himself has made the power quite worthwhile for him. He is a physical specimen on a level that counts as a superpower, and while he’s not focused on pure lifting strength or max sprinting speed he has conditioned himself to be freakishly tough (though not invulnerable), have outstanding stamina and overall be a good enough fighter to have been invited to the academy along with all the people with more overt abilities. Simplicity does carry its benefits, however. Rey’s abilities cannot be taken away, as one cannot simply erase muscular and bone development, skin hardening and practiced skills. What can be taken away or otherwise blocked is his ability to continue his magic-accelerated growth. Furthermore, the sheer willpower and dedication the ability requires, combined with his natural hard-headedness, have left Rey quite capable of fighting off attempts to invade or otherwise influence his mind. The ability's visual indicator is a crown-shaped birthmark located between Rey's shoulderblades. Typically discolored and a bit hard to make out, it becomes far more clearly defined and turns a noticeable reddish-purple when he's fighting, training or otherwise pushing himself. He has no idea of this and just thinks it's a cool birthmark, considering his nickname means "King" in spanish, that does a funky thing when he gets his blood flowing.
