This sort of thing is precisely the reason why online communities like this should even exist, not all the superficiality that goes on in the background. If they don't have this sort of impact, sites like this are just a waste of time in my eyes, full of nothing but escapism and tasteless humour. Credit to the topic poster for bringing the impact that a place like this can have on a person's life to the surface for people to see, since a lot of people take things that happen on the internet way too lightly and don't realize how much on an effect they can have on someone. I've only been here a short while myself. I won't say I know the community here enough to completely comment on it. I've met some people; some of them I think are decent people and others I don't think are decent people, while others I just don't have an opinion on. I don't plan on giving names for anyone, and unless the people who I have a problem with decide to start something with me I plan to leave things be, but if what I'm saying offends someone maybe they should do some reflection before they start a flame war. People toss out words like "self-righteous" or "preachy" far too often when they're just pissy that someone has made a good point that they don't want to come to terms with. All that's really illustrated by this is that the place is like any other community though; it's a mixed bag. In the time I've been here, I don't regret joining, even if my current situation makes actually getting involved in any RP too complicated. [@Blizz] At any rate, this is me giving my thumbs up to the topic poster for being forthright. That's how real communities are built.
