Better known to the inhabitants of Sander's Reach simply as Jaegar, Hamelyn has been living on the island for the majority of his short life. Originally a mainlander, Jaegar was sold into slavery at a young age after his mother had passed due to complications during child birth of a younger sibling (at this point unknown), and his father required drinking money. He has not had the opportunity or the desire to return home since. For a sort while he was in the service of a high ranking family where after a particular rabid scolding, brought about Jaegar's escape. After a tumultuous journey upon a merchant's vessel, the young boy found himself in the last known point of civilization in the east, Sander's Reach. 

It was on the island that the ship captain spared his life, trading the young boy to settle a debt. Jaegar found himself in the service of a sellsword that was employed by the King to maintain the safety of the roads. It was as a loosely defined squire that Jaegar was slowly trained to fight using sword and bow. But it was not until after the King released him from his endentured servitude that he began to hone to his skills as a ranger. His skills were obtained from continual trial and error in the land surrounding Sander's Reach where he knew no one who could show him the particulars of living in the wild.
