Silent nights like these where a favorite of Hugo, and as far as he was aware, nothing but silence awaited him this evening. It wasn't long ago that he had finished eating dinner, cooked by him with assistance of conjured helpers, small but very useful golems, a mixture of memories from creations of a magi from the academy and his own additions personal additions. they cut, cooked and cleaned alongside him. in the end it had been quite a pleasant dinner, and as of now, he had retired, allowing two golems to clean up behind him. The manor had more rooms then he could need, so he never stayed for to many days in the same rooms, today he had decided to lay on the comfortable mattress of one of the guest rooms, the bed itself was made of fine woods and metals, with lush purple and blue fabrics, as was most furniture of this room save for the marble dresser and it's mirror. his hand lay to his side, one finger slightly lifted, as a small cyan bird nuzzled it's head on it, chirping softly and happily, eventually beginning to whistle a pleasant tune. Hugo was looking at a large tome on a table he had dragged beside the bed. Standing behind the book, holding it in reading position was the third golem he had conjured back at dinner time. It was only slightly bigger then the tome itself, a mixture of it's small stature and the book's incredible size. the golem seemed to be made of a very polished stone but it's movement seemed very smooth, it flipped one of the pages upon Hugos request, looking at him with his small black, pebble like eyes. He didn't plan on staying up late researching today, following the previous failure in the woods he decided he needed some rest and proper sleep to clear his mind a bit, as the sounds of the night mixed with the birds soft song began to lead him into slumber, his eyes drifted shut.. The sound of hooves reached his ears. it was faint, on the distance, but still unusual. Very few came around here, even less this late at night, travelers wishing to go into the woods would take one of the well maintained paths further away, and king's men had no business nearby.Exceptions happen.. his eyes remained closed, ignoring the sound, assuming they were just passing. They weren't The sound wasn't constant, but it was always there, every once in a while he would hear horses moving and sometimes faint voices, this lasted along time before the curiosity gnawing in the back of his mind grew to strong. eventually Hugo got up, walking to the door and turning the knob, allowing the bird and the golem to vanish behind him, the magic that help them here dispersing. He had taken only a few steps down the hallway when a loud scream pierced the air."Hai!", the sound resonated through the night, and the hooves began once more, but much more violently, and noticeable, as if many horses had began to gallop. Hugo rushed to a window, looking out and seeing kingsmen, so many of them, chasing two figures. Ah.. kingsmen indeed.. There where so many though, this couldn't be simple runaways, these many men would only be dispatched for something much more important.. Traitors maybe.. or perhaps Soturi.. Hugo felt somewhat saddened as the king's men caught up to the figures, those people did not deserve what would befall them, be them rebels, who had the courage to face the kings injustices, or Soturi, whose only crime was being born. he turned away from the window, not wishing to see the guards dispatch their "Justice" He had taken a few more steps when he heard the sounds of swords clashing and screams. “Rebels forever! Down with the tyrant!” “Free on range! Free in spirit!” Rebels? what? the voices where many but all he had seen was kingsmen.. infiltrators perhaps? Hugo did not turn back to the window, instead he rushed to the main hall of the manor, turning a few hallways still hearing the sounds of battle, quickly going down the magnificent staircase that lead to the front doors, unlocking and opening them to look outside and see what has happening. He opened the door, revealing the clashing difference between the interior of the manor and it's exterior, whilst the outside looked worn and unkept, the interior was regularly cleaned, pristine and luxurious, kept that way by his golems, most of the decorational objects and trinkets the previous owner had left behind where still here, nice and pristine. His eyes darted to the bloodshed, swords clashing and horses rushing wildly, people falling to the ground bloodied as the sounds of combat took over any remaining peace, truly, it seemed rebbels had managed to make their way into the kings numbers. a brave act.. but futile in the end.. the king is too strong. Hugo's attention then fell to the people rushing towards his manors, two figures being lead by a guard.. a rebel, it was apparent he was wounded, one of his arms lay limp to his side and he could see the pain in his face even from a distance, they would need assistance. As he opened one of the doors further, he flicked his wrist to his side, conjuring a golem just like the one he had dismissed. "There are people in need of assistance, go to the storage room and bring me some medicinal salves, and bandages." As the figures got even closer, a hint of worry dripped into his mind, he was about to help rebels.. I could claim ignorance.. one of them is wearing guard armor in fact.. just in case, he broke his link to the other golems that were cleaning, banishing them, reclaiming the energy used to maintain them, he'd rather be fully ready for whatever happened. This was not going to be a silent night.
