[@Shoryu Magami] I mean, it does seem to be a lot more casual than even a lot of casual RPs from what I understand. I wouldn't worry about making a complex Tolkien-style backstory for a character, but if it's what you want to do I also don't wanna tell ya not to; especially since I'm not even the guy in charge here anyway! All I'll say is that I was thinking backstory would be confined to vague details at best that are filled in as things progress, but if everything checks out I got no problem with it either.

If it really comes down to it and you're legitimately 50/50 on it... flip a coin, maybe? Or roll a D20 for more fitting flavor.
