[@tsukune] Pretty much exactly how I read it, especially since neither of us is small-minded enough to judge a person based on whether they like one fandom or another. There's just a certain type of fan that's... toxic, I think would be the best term, to the community in general. I have an open hatred for ignorance and superficiality in the first place, so people who really aren't willing to question things or think outside of the box tend to get on my list of annoying people very quickly, whether they be childishly simple-minded fanboys/fangirls or pompous wannabe intellectuals who think they automatically know better due to their book smarts. I definitely get behind you on the attitude towards how you consider yourself a fan of something. There's a few exceptions, but almost all of the works of fiction I have any sort of respect towards or interest in are largely in that position because I either relate them to my work somehow or they had some sort of inspiration on me; sometimes it's just a bit of nostalgia too. Like I said, there's a few exceptions where I'll watch something seemingly out of place for me just for amusement, but I'm doing that a lot less these days it seems. Also, yeah, being unable to look at the things you like objectively is one of the problems with fandoms in general, but, oh well, life's a bitch, so what can you do about it? I have the same attitude towards philosophy; if a person doesn't actually learn about a religion or ideology then they have no place having an opinion about it, which is why I thoroughly research everything way of thinking I bring up in my project, even the ones I consider myself a steadfast opponent of, until I understand that side of the story even better than most of its followers do. I wouldn't say I "hate" anyone, but rather I just don't waste my time with people who don't know how to use their minds. I feel like I care about everyone in the world (I'm sometimes too empathetic for my own good, even if I don't appear it), but I care very little about what most people think honestly. I'm not a part of any fandom, but I don't really see a need get into flame wars with those who are so long as they don't try to push their opinions around on me.
