[@Dynamo Frokane] I concede your point on shounen tiddies to a point. 
My gripe with Fairy Tail is more that it's just less fun to read than Mashima's previous work, Rave Master. I wouldn't say that it's all that similar to One Piece beyond art style (Mashima was Oda's assistant at one point iirc) and the fact that they're ultimately both shounen.

I'll cosign Hajime no Ippo and Air Gear (mostly because in Air Gear's case, Ogure Ito is a great artist, despite being kind of terrible at explaining powers. And i would rather he just didn't bother)
