I'd say if they have context, then it should be alright. Just don't let it go overboard or I'll basically end up considering it spam, like I mentioned in the opening post for the thread. Overall this is mostly just a hang-out and discussion thread for people who either know me or want to know me and my associates, so try to keep pointless posting to a minimum. I imagine this'll be more used to keep up to date with people and for some discussion, and not so much just for goofing around (we have the spam forum for that). I'm really not into memes myself, with arguably a few minor exceptions, but I don't mind if other people want to use them a bit; just don't expect me to always have context.
