Layla Semara
Everything was happening so quickly. One minute, everyone was enjoying the Vytal festival tournament and then next, all hell had broken loose. Grimm attacking Beacon, a mysterious woman stirring the chaos with her monologue. But what really bothered Layla, was Penny's existence. In the back of her mind, she knew about Penny. It's just that nothing added up at the time, nor did she investigate it. During her time at Beacon, her parents often sent her cheesy photos of their research back in Atlas. One of them went something like "We're working on a super secret project! I bet you wish you were here!", with a picture of her parents grinning in their lab coats. Of course, being Atlas citizens, Layla had become acquainted with Penny to some degree during the festival. She knew something was odd about Penny. The way she spoke. The way she'd hiccup whenever she lied. The way her hands felt unnaturally... solid. 'A marvel of Atlas engineering', as her parents would say. She wondered how they were feeling now, since Penny was torn to pieces. Layla couldn't help but feel angry at the person on the speakers. It was as if she was blaming Layla's parents for all of this. They hadn't done anything wrong.. Not every Hunter and Huntress in Atlas were soldiers. Or at least, that's what she wanted to believe. The ship's atmosphere was suffocating. Physically and mentally. Everyone on the ship, save for Vi, was visibly shaken by the events. She was more worried about Ig and Dalus, since she knew that they had been affiliated with the White Fang before... 'It must be nice to have such an indifferent outlook on everything.', she thought to herself as she glanced at Vi. Layla never understood the other girl. At first, she tried to be close friends with her, because 'girls gotta stick together', but she was just.. really really.. odd. Good teammate though. Her gaze moved over to Dalus as he spoke, 'Hey. You three okay?' "I'm.. alright." She responded in an equally hushed tone, but it was easy to hear the hesitation in her voice.
