[@Double]Technically, he beat Superman by thinking, not by being stronger.  Anyone could have beat Superman if they could have gotten their hands on Kryptonite and thought of using it that way.  Also, he didn't want to kill anyone, but Luthor finished Superman off after he was defeated.

Anarchy just didn't like the government, and the JL was his enemy because they defended it, not because he didn't like them.  That's why he's working with them later and even hired some of them.
