I am starting to think that the politicians we get are our punishment for failing to be more attentive to the small things in the system; who we elect to a state legislature eventually runs for office nationally. (And they get away woth a lot, particularly in contracting and real estate development.) We should be paying attention to the local stuff. Once every four years isn't sufficient engagement in the system. Where are all these people in all the other elections? Fuck them. Then when someone is elected, we expect everything to be fixed overnight. Perfectly. I am also massively tired of Bernie bros lecturing everyone about the problems. I voted Bernie in the primary and I'm saying that. Just because this is Caleb and Colby's first year, like yah, in Oberlin and they've just discovered politics doesn't mean that it's everyone else's first time. I'm sure everyone on the Guild is pretty familiar with the dude that thinks they're some kind of freakin' enlightened genius because they're the smartest person at their dinner table, right? (because they come to the Guild) These guys are like that. I could go on, but yeah, pretty done with this shit show. Probably early voting today. Then I can tune out early.
