The blood tide rises. These are the closing days of the 3rd Era, and the final hours of my life." In the shadow of evil From the ashes of an empire A hero will rise... "Find him, and close shut the jaws of Oblivion."

Life to you is simple. Survival is everything, but survival is easy with your particular set of skills, be they hunting, magic... or something more nefarious. Survival means food, warmth, shelter. Food, warmth and shelter means coin, and coin means work. Simple, easy equations to follow in your day to day life. Sure, you may run into the odd mountain lion or troll out on the roads, but this doesn't affect your equation - you know how to kill them. So you do, and on you go - to work, for coin, for survival. But life has a funny way of changing this equation. Making it far more complicated than one would like - some kind of crisis, for example. And the 3rd Era has not been short of such crises. Even in the beginning, when Tiber Septim conquered all of Tamriel and ascended to the throne - the wars had not been without casualties, and survival for most became a far more complicated manner. Fast forward 400 years, and survival becomes arduous once again. The Nerevarine returns, defeating Dagoth Ur and freeing Vvardenfell- and the world - from his evil grasp. The world appeared to be safe. Evil was vanquished, and the equation became simple once again. Until now.

Our story begins in a rather familiar spot for those of you who have played the game (Which I do hope you have - you'll be a bit lost otherwise): The Chapel of Akatosh, in the burning city of Kvatch. You will be barricaded in the broken place of worship, surrounded by injured and cowering townsfolk. But you are not cowering - you are stood tall and tense; weapons ready for any foul demon that dares to breach those doors. For you had come to Kvatch to take part in killing for sport in the small arena there - the Count demanded blood to be spilled for his birthday, followed by feasts, alcohol and prizes to the victors. Except now there would be no feast or merriment - just more blood. You hope the blood will be spilled from the daedra outside, and not yourself. You want that blasted hole of fire to be shut down, but who would be mad enough to go into that, with Gods know what spilling out of it? Not you. Definitely not you. That would make survival... complicated.

The Roleplay:

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen! Many thanks for showing interest in the roleplay, 'tis much appreciated. As you have (hopefully) gathered, our story will be following a group of individuals aiding "The Hero of Kvatch" in their quest to close the doors of Oblivion, and save the world from the clutches of Mehrunes Dagon. While we will attempt to retain a lot of the sandbox style of the actual game, our group will be focusing largely on the Main Quest. However, factions and side-quests will undoubtedly come into it; information about your own character and affiliations to such groups will be discussed below. The date of the IC will start 30th Last Seed, 3E 433 - 3 days after the assassination of Emperor Uriel VII, and the emancipation of a prisoner, soon to become the Hero of Kvatch.

Rules and Restrictions:

Standard guild rules apply; remain respectful to your fellow roleplayers, and if you've got beef with them, take it out of the roleplay, or shoot us a PM regarding your issues. Saying that, trolling, insults, slurs, and the like will not be tolerated in either the OOC or the IC - unless you're in character, of course. Just keep the OOC and IC worlds separated; your issues are not your characters, and vice versa.
It should go without saying that Mary/Gary-Sue characters or behaviour will not be allowed. This also includes meta-gaming, god-modding, and over-powered-ness.
This is a high-casual roleplay, so correct grammar and spelling would be appreciated. I'm not going to get on your ass about mistakes now and then, but we're all big girls and boys here, we should know the difference between "you're" and "your" in the posts. As for post sizes, just make sure it's more than one tiny paragraph - we're looking for a bit of depth.
Please remember that this roleplay requires applications - only post your characters in the characters tab once they've been accepted by myself and the Co-Gm.
If you're going to be delayed in writing in a collab, or will be absent for more than two weeks, please let us know. Also, if you're leaving, again, let us know so we're not hanging around for you to post. If nothing is heard from you in the IC in 3 weeks without an explanation (either in the OOC or sent as a PM, I don't mind), your character will be brutally ripped apart by a Daedroth or something.

Affiliations:

Your characters will be allowed to join certain factions found within Oblivion; while it is possible for your character to join during the IC, it may be easier for membership to have occurred prior to the beginning of the Oblivion crisis. On that note, the Dark Brotherhood (and Morag Tong, or any other assassin group) will not be a join-able faction at all - an assassin would not frequent arena fights, and one does not retire from the ranks of Sithis. Additionally, please keep in mind that this time the Thieves Guild is barely considered a guild. They are a fairly weak faction to have joined at this point - if it's important for your character to be in this guild, please state why in their backstory.

Species:

All ten starting species are available to play; if your character is a combination of two races, canon dictates that the mother's genetics will decide which race will be more prominent. Nord father, Bosmer mother? Sorry son, you're gonna be a shortie. On that note, please remember that the beast races (Khajiit and Argonian) cannot interbreed with other races. Additionally, Vampire and Werewolf characters will not be accepted.

Equipment:

Give your character realistic weapons and armour. If you're playing a rogue, I don't want to see them with a full set of Orcish armour, matching battleaxe with it. Additionally, if they're some foolish young 20 year old, fresh out of the city and only a pocket full of septims, they won't have the most high-end equipment. Iron can protect and kill - you don't have to impress anyone, just stay alive.
On that note, our group won't have the same magic bag that all the heroes in Elder Scrolls seem to have. One cannot carry an entire kitchen, library, greenhouse and armoury in one knapsack, no matter how big it is. When filling out your equipment list, try and keep it as realistic as possible. An alchemist will carry some ingredients, and a warrior is more likely to bring along a spare sword than the dusty old magic tomes that the Mage prefers. You may also want to include things like small tents or bedrolls... unless you want your character to be shivering under a tree stump while camped outside of Bruma in the wintery wastelands.
Further armour and weapons restrictions: The following will not be allowed - Dragonplate, Dragonbone, Stahlrim, or Daedric Artifacts. The former two do not exist at this time, and the latter two are too unlikely to allow.
The following weapons and armour will not be allowed at the moment, but as the story progresses and the characters develop (or LEVEL UP), the restrictions will be unrestricted: Daedric/Dremora, Glass, and Ebony.
The following weapons and armour will require an explanation, either under the grounds that they are rare/un-abundant, or require specialist training to create: Bonemold, Chitin, Dwemer/Dwarven, Elven, Orcish. While the latter 3 are more common in the games, they require either spelunking into dangerous ruins, crafting themselves, or purchased at a not-so-low price. Unless your character is very well off, the last option will not be a good one. Elvish and Orcish armour require Elvish and Orcish smithing - or at least, training from said species (Altmer, in the case of Elvish). Explain in your backstory! I won't say no to your character killing off an Orc and looting his body for the armour.
Enchanted items will be closely monitored - I trust you all to not make them OP, but we will step in if such a thing occurs. Nothing too outlandish, please.

Crafting:

If your character is keen on smithing and is one of their main skills, then please keep it realistic again. Smithing glass would be far more delicate work than smacking together some plates of orichalcum for Orcish armour - different armours and weapons require different sets of training. Again; backstory explanation for such a thing.

Character Creation:

Please keep names as canons-sounding as possible. I won't allow a Khajiit named Jim, or a Nord named Dallas.
Keep ages realistic. If a 15 year old is bounding on into an Oblivion gate, their entrails will be out before they can scream "Mother". Likewise with the elderly. Mer races have far longer lives than the others (Excepting Orcs, who age at the same rate as Man, on average); if you need some clarification, let me know and I'll let you know what the 30-year-old equivalent or something is for a Dunmer.
The birthsigns will not give you the abilities granted in the game. We figured that would be better suited for a D&D style roleplay, which this is not. So... I guess this option is just for funsies.
Specialisations are in regards to the 3 categories of skills; Combat, Stealth and Magic. If your character has mainly combat skills, select combat. If it's an even mixture of two or all three categories, you can just put mixed.
Classes are defined by which skills you have picked; sort of a more defined version of your specialisation. Pre-Made Classes and their attributed skills can be found in this link, but feel free to make your own up - this may be preferable as we've added a few skills to the list. Again, up to you. You can just rip one of the names from this list if you're out of ideas, the skills don't have to match up.
A list of skills can be found in the hider below - most you'll recognise, but some have been added by us for realism's sake. Rules in regards to amount and level of said skills are also below.
Appearance demands at least two in depth paragraphs. In-depth does not mean long or an essay, I just want a decent description of what they look like. Pictures are optional, please keep in mind that if you do use one it must be realistic art, or a real-life photograph. No caricatures or anime - they have to have some human-like proportions. Unless... they're not human. Um... you get the idea. Written description is still mandatory.
Same applies to personality; I want at least 2 paragraphs. And no Sues either, real people have flaws dammit.
Backstory; As with all the way through this post, the backstory is important. You don't have to scribe every single detail of their life, but mention the important things; especially in regards to equipment (Specifics mentioned above), affiliations, knowledge, and of course - why they came to Kvatch to beat the shit out of some strangers.
I figured a spells option would be handy for any spell users. If they don't have any, leave it blank. Or, put in a picture of our Lord and Saviour Sheogorath - just put it in a hider.
I think I've covered inventory well enough. Keep it realistic y'all.

Combat:

Athletics
Block - This will be specific to shields only; when one learns to use a weapon, be it blade or blunt, you learn how to block with it by default. This skill is required for those using a shield.
Hand to Hand
Heavy Armour
One-Handed Blades - Swords, daggers, sabers, seaxes, etc. This skill will include duel-wielding.
One-Handed Blunt - Axes, Hammers, Maces, Mauls, etc. This will also include duel-wielding.
Two-Handed Blade - Greatswords, two-handed blades, etc.
Two-Handed Blunt - This will include spears, staffs, and staves, along with all the other two-handed weapons.
NOTE: Staffs mentioned are non-magic ones. One can have an enchanted staff and not require the two-handed skill, so long as they both have access and use of magic, and don't use the staff as a melee weapon often.

Stealth:

Acrobatics
Light Armour
Marksman - Including Crossbows, throwing knives, throwing javelins, etc. If it fits the setting, you can have it, regardless of whether it's available in the game or not.
Mercantile
Security
Sneak
Speechcraft

Magic:

Alteration
Conjuration
Destruction
Enchanting
Illusion
Mysticism
Restoration

Crafting & Miscellaneous:

Alchemy
Foraging
Hunting
Leather/Fabric-Work
Smithing
Translating - Various languages; some will be omitted, such as Falmer or Daedric. We'll decide if one is okay once seeing a CS.
Trap-Setting
NOTE: We are open to suggestions in this area; just make sure it fits the setting and makes sense; not just for the environment, but for the character.

Levels:

1 Master Level: To require a master level, one would need nearly a lifetime of dedicated training in the skillset. Therefore, the minimum age required for a Master Skill will be 80+ for Mer races (Barring Orsimer), and 40+ for all other races. Additionally, with a Master Skill, no Expert or Journeyman Skills will be available.
2 Expert Levels: If 2 Expert levels are picked, Journeyman skills will be unavailable; these restrictions do not apply if only 1 Expert skill has been selected.
2 Journeyman Skills
3 Apprentice Skills
4 Novice Skills
+ 2 Extra skills from the Crafting & Miscellaneous category; Novice and Apprentice only unless a higher level is explained in the backstory. E.g. Has smithed most of their life, etc.
NOTE: If you want more than 2 crafting skills, you can have more - they'll just take up the other skill sections, and won't be extra.

Remove the dots from the [.hr] for the coding to work when posted.
