Rainend, when viewed from above, was nothing but a wasteland. Vast expanses of bald rocks and shifting sand. The Druids said that something had come along and pulled the soul from the land, leaving it sick and infertile. The Scavengers said it was a catastrophe of man's making, tongues of nuclear fire licking clean an over-flowing plate. Wild Cherry didn't know what happened, any more than they did; but she could speculate just as well. They were both right, so far as she had concluded. Man had pulled this dark-age on themselves in an epoch of old, through their hubris and disregard for nature. However, that wasn't her problem. Her problem was meandering between two uneven bone spires, dragging great lengths of chain behind him. Amber eyes caught their glint amidst the grains in ghastly moonlight, watching as they snaked along in a trail that had to be somewhere near half a mile long. Never woulda thought it'd be hard to find a guy like this, came her internal whisper...a voice a great deal more sultry and like satin than her own coarse, sometimes raucous articulation, but I finally got 'em.... She still hadn't seen Rattling Jormungand in full, only catching a glimpse of his back now and again during the two days she'd been hunting him. The Ruby Revolver at her side issued a heavy pulse, urging her hand almost-magnetically toward it; the weapon's way of demanding action. Tugging at her hip like a child. It disgusted her, sometimes, that the thing was so needy despite its power...and inability to directly communicate. She sat back against an outcropping of rock well away from the winding chains and folded the monocular she'd been spying with; letting her hand fall to the Mineral Weapon's grip, giving it a small, placating pat. She'd be moving, soon...down the steep cliff and through the dunes; giving chase to an Immortal. Rattling Jormungand is just one, though. How many more are there? Wild put a fist to her chin and stood, staring out over the iniquitous badlands that so many people called 'Rainend'. Is he really any worse than Lady Crimson or The Duke? She doubted it, but when two of the Cardinals called out to you...you listened. However that dubious pair didn't, so far as the assassin knew, spew out noxious fumes wherever they went; at least no moreso than when anyone else opened their mouths. Still, there were as many stories about the Cardinals as there were Immortals. Some Casteless even said that Lady Crimson was among their number. It seemed like there were all kinds of stories around Rainend. Wild Cherry didn't have one, and she knew that. Though, it might be time to get my name out there...

Rainend: A waste-land that has persisted since the apocalypse of whatever world existed before (though rare remnants of that world still exist). It is a vast expanse of desert composed of salt-plains, shifting dunes, countless gigantic skeletons and erratically formed mountains. Many types of people live and even thrive in Rainend. Some in small settlements and others in the Cardinal Cities. Creatures of Rainend are as diverse as they are deadly. Cardinal Cities: The Cardinal Cities are rather advanced complexes, situated in (and named after) their respective directions. The quality of life in Cardinal Cities is considerably higher than that of waste-hamlets, though more strict. Each of the Cardinal Cities has a leader. Cardinal Cities follow the Caste Index. -The Duke (North) -Lady Crimson (South) -Emperor (East) -Brother West (West) Caste Index: A system in which one is identified by their respective Caste (via tattoo or branding) in a Cardinal City. Castes are assigned at birth and rarely, if ever, are changed. Casteless (which includes outsiders) are considered to be second-class citizens; though an outsider who obtains a permit to enter a Cardinal City will usually be treated with respect to their business there. -Raintouched -Casteless -Worker -Soldier -Artisan -Merchant -Noble Mineral Weapons: Weapons of countless shapes and form, though of limited category. A Mineral Weapon usually possesses an ego/personality of its own and binds its self to one host-soul at a time. There are countless ideas and theories behind their origin, but nothing solid has ever been proven. Mineral Weapons are often of considerable power and are imbued with traits that correlate to their category. The number of Mineral Weapons in Rainend had dwindled over the past few decades, making them something of a rarity. Raintouch: No one knows what causes the Raintouch to take a being, but it is a problem that has existed so long as Rainend its self. A strange sticky substance begins weeping out of the pores of a victim, sap-like in its consistency and smells of fermented fruit. The beasts of Rainend find the Raintouched to be unpalatable and tend to avoid the areas they inhabit. Raintouched are even lower than the Castless in the Caste Index and are treated with disdain almost anywhere they go. It is a slow affliction and is spread through blood-contact. The subject will eventually become catatonic and encased in a Weeping Crystal. Immortal: Another mystery of Rainend are the Immortals. Those who have longest wandered the wastes. They are usually deranged and have powers far beyond that of a normal being, as well as longevity and durability.

Name: This one is pretty straightforward. Age: Some races live longer than others, and develop at different rates; so keep that in mind if you're making a particularly long-lived character. Race: There are myriad races that inhabit Rainend, ranging from the commonplace to the outright bizarre. Unfortunately, you're just going to be a human. Sorry! Gender: Also pretty straightfoward. Affiliation: What group you belong to, if any. Appearance: You can use an image (illustrations preferred), or write out a couple of paragraphs about what your character looks like. Personality: Fairly easy. Occupation: What does your character do in Rainend? Be sure to include your Caste, here. Regardless of whether or not you're from a Cardinal City. Equipment: What good is an adventurer without gear? Put all your stuff in a nice little list, here. I'm limiting people to two Mineral Weapons, in the beginning. Mind you, that's the maximum...and I'll be looking over this stuff pretty closely; so try not to give yourself too much of an edge. Abilities: This is where things get a little rocky. Abilities are defined by both Occupation and Race (allowing for two Racial Abilities), composing the repertoire of your character's combat prowess or practical abilities. Biography: I'll only make you put about three paragraphs into this, if you choose to do it. I know a lot of Rainend its self is unmapped, so feel free to make up locations and the like. Make sure it makes sense.
This one is really kind of up in the air; though I want to have it heavily revolve around discovering the nature of Rainend's blight and the presence of the Immortals (who may not be all Norse-mythos themed). I plan on us playing a group of people (from all walks of life, chosen for their skills and usefulness) chosen by the Duke (northern Cardinal), conspiring with Lady Crimson (southern Cardinal) to uncover something very important to these particular Cardinals...and, though few know it, the future of Rainend. I know this one is ambiguous, despite the bit of groundwork laid out for it. I'm leaving room for expansion. ^^ Despite how it sounds, this is obviously not intended to be insanely serious. I plan to have Wild shouting attack names, just as a heads up. That's not to say it isn't going to be serious or have heavy themes, at times~ Since the people originally planned to make this thread a reality have, so far as I know, dropped; I've decided to make a general interest check to see if others might find it interesting. If there are any questions, I'd love to answer them here or via PM. I know there's a lot "missing", and that can lead to some confusion. So I expect and welcome these questions! As a note, I plan to add stuff to the 'Terms' section as we go along~
•Two paragraphs per post, per character you control; at the minimum. •Play nice. I don't like OOC drama. If you have a problem, please be civil about it. •If you're going to be absent, or don't plan on posting for a time...please let everyone know so we can either work around it/have an ETA for your post in mind. •Have fun and be creative! Seriously, don't hold back!
Thanks for reading! [s]I'll be getting Wild Cherry's CS up, sometime shortly.[/s] XOXO Crumbs
1) Put up Cherry's CS (as an example, so you can get a feel for stuff) and fixed a couple of small issues. 2) Changed up Cherry's appearance. Last one was kinda goofy. Then I did it, again. 3) Changed some wording, here and there. Also added a small bit about questions. 4) Made a Discord
