At this point, a limit would just stifle creativity.
Honestly, the whole vibe I'm getting from you was summed up right there. You seem to be fully on board with all creative ideas I'm contributing - to make this more interesting than just another cycle - that would normally be in a GM's hand, and I appreciate it. Another question has come to mind -- have you established an actual reason for why another cycle of Dissidia can even take place at all? My understanding of the lore was that the final cycle (the first Dissidia game) more or less brought the cycles to a conclusion once and for all. I'm assuming this story takes place after that - if it has any connection to that franchise at all - so I felt this is an important question. To the best of my knowledge, Cosmos and Chaos haven't even been brought up in the new Dissidia game, making me think - if it has a plotline on the PS4 release - that it might be a new storyline. If you don't have a reason, I'll create one. I'm currently reading up on the characters that you guys introduced, since I'm not too savvy about some of the games in the franchise that aren't part of the main series. Once I've got a better understanding of them, I can suggest all my ideas for the parties. Expect a response in an hour at the latest. Just so I know, are you thinking two groups of three or three groups of two (assuming we get six heroes off the bat), or should we just assume groups of two in general and then add a third one in if there's an uneven number? I wasn't sure if we wanted to make sure all three of us were in each party. If we count Kain, there's five heroes so far -- unless I get Cecil posted up or [@Raddum] adds another hero, then it's six. First Edit: Done a little bit of my research. Still thinking, but I'll give my first thoughts. Since I haven't gotten an answer about how many parties we want to break them into, all my comments will assume groups of two for the time being.

Firion: If you've read Terra's profile, you'll know that I personally believe that Firion bears an uncanny resemblance to Locke -- something I will undoubtedly play with if/when Firion and Terra encounter each other. It doesn't need to happen immediately (I've got a plot idea for Terra to occur down the line that could force a meeting), and these two shouldn't be together needlessly to avoid me role-playing with myself constantly instead of with you guys. With that said, I'm not entirely certain who would be the ideal paring for him -- I believe I could adapt to anyone, but - outside of Kain possibly thinking Firion's personality resembles Cecil's (his resolve, willpower, passion, virtue, et cetera) - there isn't too many options for a foil.
Kain: As stated earlier, I think he would probably think Firion bears some resemblance to Cecil, at least in terms of his personality. Besides this, he might have an interesting balance with several characters. His serious and troubled personality could balance well with more than just Firion -- he could actually work well as a foil to Layle's personality from what I could tell (but this is a bad idea since you're both characters) and could also be interesting with Terra due to how timid, gentle, and withdrawn she is; in fact, she might even remind him of Rosa. Whether he works well with Ritz or not sort of depends on how much their serious personalities clash.
Terra: I think her personality is in stark contrast with at least the 'tough' part of the personality of Ritz, though not so much the more sensitive half. Nevertheless, there's possibility for them to foil each other, but putting the two females together could make the parties lack gender diversity. I've already stated that I want her to encounter Firion, but it doesn't need to happen right from the beginning. I think I could make Terra interesting regardless of who she ends up pairing with out of this lot, since Terra's personality always worked around a very dynamic party in her own game.
Ritz: As I stated earlier, we may or may not want to stick both of the female characters together. Doing so could stifle diversity, but at the same time I'm getting a very 'Tsundere' vibe from how I read her profile and this makes me think she's a noticeable foil to Terra. Otherwise, Ritz might work best with Layle due to him seeming like a bit of a troublemaker from his profile -- this indicates he would be a good foil for her. The latter option might be best to avoid lack of diversity in the genders of the parties.
Layle: As suggested above, I think Ritz might be his ideal foil to make things interesting. Otherwise, sticking him with any serious character should balance out his more mischievous personality. The other characters are all serious in one form or another. It might be a good idea to have Ritz and Layle together, then Firion or Terra join them if we have an uneven number of people or choose to do groups of three instead of groups of four.
With these thoughts in mind, I recommend these parties (if we start with five characters -- my thoughts will change if either you, me, or Raddum introduce more heroes before we start or plan to shortly after starting): Firion/Ritz/Layle and Kain/Terra, or Firion/Kain and Terra/Ritz/Layle. Second Edit: For the sake of moving this forward, I've decided not to go into the rest of Terra's spells, since most of us are being vague anyway with our profiles. For the time being, I also removed the second weapon I had in mind -- I might edit it in eventually.
