Minutes ago, we fled my parked car and retreated into a more secluded area so that we could change over to our superhero clothes. Although the switch almost happened instantaneously, we can’t really do it right out in public. That kind of defeats the purpose of trying to hide a secret identity. Once we exited the portal, we found two individuals still fighting at the intersection. One of them was a tall man, wearing a blue jumpsuit with yellow boots and gloves. He wore a red helmet with a golden falcon on the front of it. Around his neck, there was a yellow scarf. And over his right shoulder was what appeared to be some kind of shoulder pad. His opponent, at least initially to my horror, was a kid. He was wearing a red baseball cap that was turned sideways. His short-sleeved shirt had a yellow and blue stripe pattern. He had jean shorts and a pair of tube socks worn under his red tennis shoes. “PK FIRE!” The young boy yelled as a single yellow, cartoon-like thunderbolt shot out towards the other man. When it struck the taller man, he became engulfed by a pillar of flames. However, what was weird was that, even though it appeared to hurt him, there was not physical damage being caused by this fire. The kid rushed forward, jumping into the air in order to land another attack on his opponent. However, before the attack landed, the man was able to get out of the flames and parry the attack. This battle went on for a minute or two more, until the taller man was able to obtain the upper hand and launch the kid flying far into the air. Once his adversary was long gone, he turned around and faced the two of us. He extended his arm out towards us and gestured with his four fingers, repeatedly drawing them back to his palm. “Come on!” He taunted us. “I think he’s talking to you.” Kyra told me. Before I could make a response, I felt a little shove from behind my spider abdomen. “Thanks for volunteering me.” I quipped at my teammate, “I thought you were the one from the state who proclaim themselves as volunteers.” The man then dashed forward towards me. He moved faster than I expected, although that would not be a problem for my powers. Once he was a few feet away from me, he threw the weight of his shoulder at me. Unfortunate for him, I was able to stop his momentum and catch him. I then shoved him back, causing him to be driven back a few feet. As he was pushed back, he tumbled into a few back flips and he ended it with a somersault. He again dashed at me, obviously foolish enough to think that a different result would come from it. However, this time, when he drew near, he leapt into the air. As he was coming down from his jump, the man thrusted out his knee, intending to slam me in the face. Using my enhanced reflexes, I prepared myself to catch his attack again. But this time, I saw electrical sparks developing around the man knee. When his knee met my hands, instead of me just stopping the attack in its tracks, I was somehow (I don’t know why) sent flying backwards. This strike had so much knockback that it sent me flying into the side of a car that was parked nearby. “WHAT WAS THAT?” I cried out as I picked myself off the ground. The car next to me, which now had a dent in it where I had come into contact with it, was blaring its alarm while its lights began to flash. “Show me your moves!” The man taunted again. He even gave a quick salute when he said it. “I think it’s your turn now.” I called out to Kyra. “I think you got this.” She encouraged me while she was taking a few steps back.
