Sophia Lemane
Standing there, she watched as the teenage boy continued to walk towards her without glancing in once in her direction. Thinking that he must be too occupied in whatever he was thinking about and that he was going to walk past her, she was prepared to begin wandering around again when he stopped a few steps away. She met his gaze, but only for a brief moment before her eyes widened and she looked somewhere else. He had amethyst eyes. That would make him the first person with violet or purple eyes that she had ever met. Admittedly, she had a little bit of an obsession with eye colors. The colors that intrigued her the most were gray, purple, and black. A little distracted with her thoughts, her focus flew back to the boy when he spoke, though this time her eyes were fixated on a point a little way below his right eye. For she knew that if she made eye contact she would get distracted by examining his eyes, and that she would stare. That just wasn't polite. "Heyo, young lady. How's it going? Visiting a friend’s room? Getting a check up? Or would you like to join me on an evening's stroll to the gym? Oh, you can totally refuse if you're busy though. Name’s Brent Roless. You?” Five questions. In less than a minute. Maybe she should have kept walking. She raised her left arm with the intention of crossing her arms, before realizing that that was no longer possible with her other arm in a sling. As a compromise she wrapped it around her torso instead, just under the level of the sling. The gesture made her feel more secure, and more protected. Right. So. How's it going? How am I supposed to respond to that? I don't think I even know myself. Maybe I just won't answer that part, except that would be rude. I guess it's going OK. I'm not visiting a friend's room or getting a check up. Now would be the time to ask him if he knows the way back. So how would I say that? How about this: I'm doing alright, thanks. I was actually wondering if you knew the way back to the... the... what's the name of the room I was in? Alright, that is not going to work. Maybe to simplify things I'll just take him up on his offer. And don't forget to introduce myself. Now let's see... how would I say that? As she was thinking all of this, her gaze had lowered to the floor. A minute of silence passed without her paying any attention to him before she finally was ready to respond. Still not lifting her gaze, she opened her mouth... and closed it. Pathetic, she scolded herself. Just say it! "Uh... I'm fine, thanks." The words came out soft and wispy, just passing for a whisper. Not at all like she had hoped. "Name's Sophia. Lemane. Sophia Lemane." This wasn't working out at all. After a few more seconds of silence, a tinge of red rose to her cheeks. "Would you like to..." She tilted her head towards the direction that Brent had been walking before. Would you like to lead the way there?
[@ERode]
