He immediately sat up. They're opening the doors already? He jumped off his bed as the commander continued his announcement. He immediately thought of his family back in Korea. Will he be able to contact them? Will he somehow be able to go to them? He knew that it was an absurd idea but it was all he really could think of at the moment. He followed the majority of the crowd heading to the door. In a matter of minutes, bright light flooded in and JJ had to squint until his eyes adjusted to the sunlight. He looked around, the younger population had rushed out, some curious to see the outside world, others just wanting to get out. The older population treaded carefully. JJ waited his turn to be able to walk out the doors, ending up walking beside an old lady. He smiled at her and offered her his arm. The old lady smiled back, took his arm and murmured a soft thank you. Together, they made it out and for the first time in a year, laid eyes on the horrific scene. Stunned, JJ could only stare and didn't notice that the lady on his arm had sagged forward. Her hacking coughs snapped him into focus and he looked towards her. "Mrs. Kitchner, are you alright?" He reached out and supported her as she kept on coughing and clutching at her chest. "Help! Somebody---" his words were cut off as he looked up and saw people collapse one by one. He looked back at the old lady as she took one last cough and then was silent. He blinked, for a moment at a loss of what to do. He reached out and felt for her pulse. There was none. "Oh my God..." he murmured. And then from the distance, he heard the sound of gunfire.
[@Wick] [@King Tai] [@MissCapnCrunch] [@Aeternum] [@RumikoOhara] [@Spinosaurus]
