For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer"

Allister Matthews: Guardian of City T
It was peaceful as always, the nuns of the Holy Mother played sweet hymns that echoed through the church's halls and out onto the street below. Outside of the church, a few sisters and brothers of the holy order were maintaining the grounds as a large bulky figure approached. Some had stopped for a second to see who it was, simply smiling when the man greeted them with a simple "Father" or "Sister" and continued on with their duties. He stood around six feet, eleven inches and matched that height in pure muscle weight, roughly 360 pounds of lean and toned muscle. Short, black, unkempt hair, blew gently in the coming wind. Light brown eyes smiled to those working outside, accompanied by an unwavering grin. He was covered by a black cape, tattered at the bottom from wear and tear. But, above his body, the hilt of The Crucible stood, silently bearing the name of its wielder. "Hello father, is Mother Grace in currently?" An older man, with long white hair and beard, pushed his glasses up on his face, turning to see who called out to him. He had been working on the front entrance garden, the one that Allister liked to tend to on his off days besides his own. Father Michael turned to face the tall man and felt a warm come over him. He stood up and chuckled patting Allister on the sides of his arm, one side clinking from the armored sleeve that ran down it. "Haheheheh! Allister? Ahhhhh, young Allister Matthews! How are you son? I haven't seen you since you left for the academy. But I have been listening to your whereabouts. The newspaper, the TV, radio? We are all very proud of you son...Oh, ah yes! Mother Grace...Come come. She has been expecting you " Placing a hand on his back, he lead Allister inside, carefully closing the door behind him. It hadn't been the first nor second time being in this church. This was originally his home when his parents brought him here, hoping that the church would provide a better life for them than they could. Despite what many had said to him, he found this to be a blessing. For all anyone knew, himself included, he could have been in foster care or worse, on the barrel end of a hero's fist...Or dead. But, he was lucky, not only for being taken in by a merciful mother, but a mother who was a famous S ranked hero. Mother Superior, Sister Elaine Claire was known more commonly as Angel Grace, an outstanding S ranked healer whose range in power trumped many. She worked with powers associated in light mostly, but what made here famous was her healing power. No one knows how she did it at the time, able to heal deep severe wounds to the point that they would appear as if they never happened. But back then they did not know much about Heros. Later on, it was discovered she had the ability to distort time, to a certain degree, reversing the damage that was done in a certain timeframe. Mostly, she was able to heal many, though some were too severe and out of her hands. Now, she watched over the Church of Saint Michael, and works at the academy as a Defensive ability teacher and a nurse. As they approached he knelt down low, with his head bowed. Despite being in her nineties, she still had that youthful appearance. Only looking to be no older than 28. "Mother Superior, it's good to see you- ACK!" THUNK! In a moments notice, a large, heavy bible slammed down on the top of his head, putting his face into the tile flooring. Father recoiled in shock. "HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU TO STOP CALLING ME THAT!? DO I LOOK LIKE AN OLD LADY!?" If one looked closely, one could see the steam exiting Mother Grace's ears. Looking up with his one eye flinching from the pain, he looked up with a smirk, which faded to fear and more flinching as she raised the bible up again, prepared to but the holy ghost outta him. "S-S-Sorry Mother Sur- Mom..." With a audible "Hm" and a sigh she knelt down, helping her "little" boy up and then giving him a big hug. "It's good to see you again Alley. I hear you made it to an S rank hero class. Not only that but the fourth ranked one at that. I'm so proud of you sweetheart. I hope your not planning to stop there now are you?" She smiled as she talked, but a slight hint of frustration entered towards the question. Allister did have a tendency at first to get comfortable with where he was. But with Angel Grace's teachings and training, he learned to always push forward, never looking back. He nodded in response. She gestured for him and Father to follow towards the back of the church, where lunch was being prepared. As they walked he glanced over to her with a light smirk. "Thanks mom... Uh, yeah actually. I was looking into joining the academy as a student teacher. Study a bit and become a full fledged teacher there. If that doesn't work I may come back and become a pastor or priest." His mother shot him a look to which he returned with a cautious one. "No son of mine will be a priest. You study your hardest and become the best teacher you can be. You're a bright boy Alley. Full of wisdom and knowledge that can and should be past down to the younger hero generation." Father chimed in. "I agree. As much as I would appreciate you joining the holy order, you have need else where son, somewhere much more important." Allister smiled and looked down. He truly was blessed with what he had. He still wished to meet his biological parents but had one thing in mind, one thing that prevented it. If after all the media coverage and front article spots he received, they didn't bother searching him out, he wouldn't do the same. Selfish, maybe. But it was probably for the best. They had made it to dining room. A simple little thing with a fairly large table meant to hold most of the convent there. But for now it was just the three and those who were finishing up cooking for the rest of the order.
Time had past and the meal was delightful. He spent the hour or so chatting with the others about his plans and had mix reviews. One of the older nuns made a very suggestive comment about him joining the order, earning weird looks from everyone which she retorted with "In the end I'm saving myself for Jesus. So what's wrong with a little eye candy." That had made nearly everyone shudder, specifically Allister since this was the same old nun who he considered a grandmother figure. Apparently, she waited until he was older to joke around like that. It was around now that a nun ran in, panting. Her eyes filled with fear and terror. Everyone at the table looked at her with worried eyes. "Evac...uation... We need...to go...NOW!" Allister was sipping some fresh tea when she ran in. His warming smile turned to a cold scorn as he glanced over to Angel Grace to which she simply nodded. "Angel Grace..." He simply stated with a stern voice. "Right...Everyone go, get to safety, take any and all food, water and medical supplies with you and help the nurses and doctors with any and ALL victims. Father, gather the Knights and meet by the alter. Afterwards, take your leave as well. I will be shortly behind. And with her commanding voice they moved with a chaotic yet controlled haste. The three stood up and made their way to the alter, preparing for the upcoming battle. "Da pacem, Domine, in diebus nostris" The fathers of the Knights Order sung as the alter was being prepared. Behind the alter, Angel Grace stood, adorn in her armor of silver and gold, her four wings at their fullest length her hands extended in front of her. In front of the alter, Allister knelt with Grace's hands just above his head. Her eyes were closed as a golden light slowly covered over Allister. Slowly outside, the screaming and yelling could be heard as well as the rumbling of the ground could be felt from the other invaders. "May the lord bless you in the coming crusade against those of darkness. May your shining light bless Allister Matthews and lead him to the light beyond the darkness." "Amen" "Amen" "Go child. And serve the lord and those you have sworn the oath to protect." Angel Grace was one of the few that could command such respect and faith with Allister. With those few words of the command, Allister lowered his head just a bit more, before standing fully erect, a fierce unwavering gaze etched in concrete on his face as he turned towards the door and began his march toward the fray, only his footsteps echoed through the now silent church. The sounds of terror and anguish grew in sound as he approached the doors of the Cathedral. His hand grasped the handle, clicked down the lever and opened it. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" "HELP MEEE! "OH GOD NO!" Pain, agony, terror, fear. They bombarded his eardrums as he left the church, Angel Grace and the others had taken the back door if her flight path was anything to go off of. He stared up to her in the sky for a moment before looking back to the streets of people in terror, running from something. That was the way to go. Coming down the now barren steps he turned into the direction of the oncoming civilians, his eyes were focused on the distance. Bodys seemed to be strung out all over the place and in gruesome positions. That was when he heard over the loud speaker. "-EVEL TIGER! ALL AVAILABLE HEROS PLEASE RESPOND!" He glanced up to the speakers as he walked. Slowly his eyes moved towards the front. Squinted slightly, he thought he could see what the problem was but he was still unsure. He made his approach, unsure if any other heros responded to the distress call for city T. He wondered if he was alone. It mattered not. If today he would die fighting alone to try to save those who couldn't save themselves, then to him it was God's Will. But only fate would hold the answer.
