Novis Shannon | @Lab PokePark
As they made their way to the clearing, Novis watched as both of their Pokemon bridled with excitement for the upcoming match. "You've never seen a Growlithe before?" Nov gave Danilo an odd look. He figured they were pretty common, but he supposed he was a bit biased in that regard. "Well, I'll be the first to show you what they can do!" Once they found a good clearing, Novis paced a fair distance away before turning back and locking eyes with Danilo. Nier jumped in front of Nov and lowered itself close to the ground, a rumble emanating from the small dog as it prepared itself to fight.
[Collab between [@Sen] & [@TalijaKey]] "Francis, greet Nier with a opening quick attack!" Danilo raised his staff pointing it towards Nier, and Francis fly up and went directly towards the growlithe aiming to hit him into the forehead. Nov couldn't help but laugh as the bird collided straight into Nier's face, barely knocking the dog back but noticeably doing a bit of damage right off the bat. Fighting against a flying type was going to be... fun. Nier was pretty agile, but they'd have to rely entirely on Ember if the Fletchling was going to fly high the whole match. Luckily, for now Francis was in close proximity due to its physical attack and with enough speed, they could try for their own physical counter-attack. Swinging his arm out dramatically, Nov called out his command. "Nier, get 'em with a Bite, quick!" Francis was seemingly prideful that he hit the other pokemon and stayed still close to the earth. The bite came surprising him and landing square over his left side. Chipping in bit of pain, he flapped his wings until the Growlithe let him go. "Francis, you are doing fine." Danilo encouraged the little bird. It could still fly but the bite made it slightly painful to fly as agile as before. "Let's get the wind itself to help us. Tailwind! ". Danilo spoke, and Francis started to flap fast a turbulent whirlwind starting to build up from the motion of its wings. Both Nier and Novis were pretty excited to have gotten a good hit in after such a silly start, and as soon as Francis managed to shake Nier off, the Growlithe went in for another Bite as soon as it could. Unfortunately, in the time it took for Nier to gather himself, the Fletchling had whipped up a powerful wind that pushed and pulled Nier around while allowing Francis to glide around significantly faster than before. This, of course, meant that Nier's attempt for a second bite was hopelessly lost in the whirlwind and got him nowhere fast. Instead of playing a game of unwinnable tag, Novis knew they weren't gonna get up-close to that bird if they didn't want him to. "Aim where he's heading with Ember, Nier!" At that, the Growlithe reared up and mustered up some flames from its snout, throwing sparks of fire into the whirlwind. Most were swept away, but the stronger flames went somewhere alright. Danilo knew with the set of things Francis knew they would have to sooner or later get in contact with the other pokemon and without opening themselves for another contra bite. When the first flame sparks came from Nier lips Danilo hummed. Novis had that advantage, a range atack. The whirlwind all but scattered the weaker ones, "Francis, up!" He called to his fletchling as the stronger ember was coming in. Francis fly from down to up and the flames burnt his tail feathers. A angry chip left Francis, as he was quite proud of those. "Slip under his feet and tackle up!" That command was something Francis more than gladly wanted to do. With the help of wind that was making the flying more effortlessly he went to do just what he was told aiming to hit a tackle into Neir belly. Nier's flames didn't do all to much besides singeing a few tail feathers, so he just watched as the bird went for a direct body-slam. The Growlithe could feel the flames rising in its mouth as Francis came closer, but he had miscalculated where the Fletchling was going. Instead of a head-to-head clash, Francis had instead opted to try to get underneath Nier and knock him off balance like that. It worked presumably as planned, though, as Nier was caught off guard by such a tactic. With the force of the bird slamming into him, Nier tumbled back with Francis, but before the bird type could get away, he spewed all the flames he had built up, setting the zone around them both ablaze. After, Nier caught his balance and re-situated himself away as Francis followed through with the momentum. As it was his first battle, Nier was already pretty shaky from the hits, especially since he'd hurt himself with his last attack. Novis gave a little sigh, but they could still try to make it work. "Nier, use Morning Sun! Don't let them hit you too much anymore!" At that command, Nier lifted his head and let out a howl. A faint glow enveloping the Growlithe's body, slowly beginning to clear up any wounds. However, this was the first practical usage Nier had of the move, and, combined with the heat of battle and the injuries, it took sheer concentration to actually use. He was left wide-open as he tried to rejuvenate himself. The tactic worked but not with out its own price. The suddenly reled ember took Francis completely by surprise and was hit with it face first, the flames pushing him away and he rolled over the ground. Danilo could see that it was quite a bad hit, yet before he could say anything Francis started to shake his head as if to orient himself again. The wind was still on their side. A howl filled the surroundings and Danilo recognized the atack. A quite beautiful display. A chip brought Danilo back to the fact he was in a battle. "You can go on?" A stubborn chip. "Silly me, you will evolve into a fire type. Good. Put you all into this!" At this point Danilo could see the wounds vanishing on Neir, and he wasn't gonna let them all heal up. Francis was again circling on the wind, raising up and up getting a lot of attitude. They both were thinking of the same thing. The winds would start to weaken real soon and with out them his fletchling would be left with out a natural ally while his wing hurt. "Tackle into the back!" From high above Francis closed his wings and started to fall head first, trying to add the force of the natural fall to his own tackle. Novis could do nothing but watch as the events unfolded. There was no way that Nier was gonna deal with what was coming, not while trying to use Morning Sun. As the Growlithe poured all attention into conjuring sun energy, Francis had recovered from their last attack and had flown high up into the air, circling around Nier as it went up. Nov could feel the winds dying down, and all he could do was hope they would die before Nier finished. Danilo must've felt the opposite though, as he commanded Francis to strike while the iron's hot. The tiny bird closed its wings and suddenly dropped. With the winds behind it, the velocity of such a fall would seriously add to the force of the dive-bomb. "Nier, dodge!" Novis called out, but even though Nier almost immediately cancelled the ability, he couldn't figure out where the attack was even coming from before it was too late. The Fletchling crashed into Nier's back, slamming into him with such force that it send him sliding across the floor. Even after healing some of its wound, Nier didn't have enough strength left in him to deal with the attack, and instead just laid there. With a wave of his arms above his head, Novis signaled the end of the battle and ran over to where Nier was laying down. "You ok, buddy?" Nov asked, scooping up the Growlithe in his arms. The sparks still on his fur stung his skin, and Nier whimpered in apology. Novis turned towards Danilo, giving him a sincere smile. "That was a pretty close match, especially for Nier's first fight. Your Fletching's pretty good, but I didn't expect Nier to do that well to be honest." It sure was a powerful tackle, but Francis small body wasn't build to take such a force. The impact pushed Neir but Francis felt some bit of recoil himself. Only managed to flap twice to get a bit of distance before he landed on the ground exhausted and a hurting head. At this point even the last of the wind was gone. The battle ended, and Danilo came closer to Francis, kneeing beside the bird. "Fabulous." He silently said to him and it was returned with a tired chip. Danilo lowered his hand and Francis curled into the soft glove as if it was a bed. Eyes barely open to observe the pair he fought. "His Morning Sun was quite breath taking for using it in his first fight. " Danilo smiled back in return at Novis. "Maybe a bit more to work on moving faster and he may have doged that last hit. Francis could not change the direction while he was failing. Burn tail feathers." Danilo looked around and spoted the healing machines along one side of the pokepark, pointing at them. "Lets heal them up. And I sure hope we get a rematch somewhere down the road. It would be a spectacle, one that will have legends told about!~" "Yeah, but I guess that thing comes with experience, huh? Either way, good battle, dude." Novis looked over to the healing machines situated at the side of the park. "Maybe next time you'll see him as an Arcanine, and then he'll show you guys. Legends are waiting to written! ... But first, we should really get these little guys healed up, huh?"
With that whole thing over with, Novis made his way over to the tables hosting the little pseudo-PokeCenter. There was already a group of people there, but before long, Nier would be all healed up and rearing to go despite all the energy he'd just exerted. There wasn't much left to do in the Beryllium Lab now that he'd signed up for the League and gotten a PokeDex from the professor, but Nov decided the best thing for now was to just take a quick moment to breathe after that battle.
