Sophia Lemane
She didn't have to wait long before Brent began to lead the way, and at a pretty fast pace too. She followed after him taking long strides, but at the pace that he was going she was forced to take a few quicker steps once in a while to keep herself from falling more than a few steps behind. She was beginning to get the impression that the older boy was quite an active person, especially as he leapt up the stairs. She herself normally took stairs two at a time and she still did so in this occasion, but she couldn't help thinking that Brent should be more careful of his injury. At last, they were out of the hospital building and outside. She first glanced up at the dark sky, then around her at the lit up buildings as she turned slowly in a circle to take everything in. As she finished looking around her, Brent spoke up. “Well, then. The goal is the doors of that glass building over there. Wanna race? Yes? Ready set go!” She turned to face the direction that the glass building was in as Brent pointed it out, but wasn't ready for him to suggest racing there. However, she didn't have the time to contemplate what answer to give him, for he answered his own question for her and took off. Wait, what? By the time she started off he had already had a lead by a few seconds. Cradling her arm to keep it from bumping around too much, she ran as well. She wasn't a bad runner, but she was definitely slower than Brent. At the moment though, it didn't matter much. It felt good to run after being cooped up in a truck for hours and then lying in a bed for hours, for how long exactly she didn't know. She found herself grinning as she ran before slowing down as she arrived at the entrance. She had seen Brent already enter the building while she was running to catch up, but didn't mind much this time. Pulling the door open, she walked in and spotted Brent, making her way to where he was standing with a staff member. The place smelled... good wasn't a good enough word. It smelled heavenly. Almost there, she thought. Unfortunately, the smile on her face didn't last long as she came close enough to hear the last part of the conversation between the two. They needed a student ID to get in, and it was apparently in their rooms. The man recommended changing too. Can't they just let us in for now? I'm hungry! We haven't had a chance to go to our rooms yet, surely just this once? But that was wishful thinking, and wishes weren't reality. Brent seemed to be laughing it off, but she didn't do things like that. Her expression was blank as she took out her own rather crumpled copy of the map to show that she would lead the way as requested. Right. So it's building A and I'm in Suite 226. Let's first get out of this building. She pushed the door that they were standing by open and exited back out into the night. Then she rotated the map so that the dining hall, building D, was nearest to her. So if this is building D, then building A should be... over there. She started towards what should be building A and set a brisk pace, though it was slower than the pace that Brent had set before. No racing this time. Upon reaching the doors that led inside, she made sure that Brent was by her before entering. Though she hadn't said anything more to him yet, she was too aware of his presence and of her thought that he was probably observing and judging her every motion. Now that she was inside, she was about to find a staircase or elevator before she realized that she didn't know what floor Brent's suite was on. Turning around to face him, she asked, "What's your, uh, suite number?"
[@ERode]
