Nuclear devices had been set aside after the creation of the World Treaty Organisation (W.T.O.), dismantled and thrown away for the preparation of a new era, one that was to house a city. The nations of the Earth combined their forces to make the Global Defence Coalition (G.D.C.) to combat terror without a country. There was a city built to connect Egypt to Libya. Massive in size, it stretched across where a line used to have been drawn on maps. The borders were completely removed, due to the size of this settlement. It was a project, a leap forward, in the unification of mankind. A large city, where anyone could be accepted without the ideals of oppression. Set inside the desert, it needn't to make room inside the larger countries. To boost the economy of the African countries, it was to be a masterpiece, a refuge for many of those in need. Having capabilities to house, educate and employ millions upon millions, many sought to see this as a bright future for the human race, especially after the previous decades of treason, civil war and tensions between global superpowers. This was the city of Messla, named after the Libyan designer and genius who headlined after leading the operation for its construction. Well, it was supposed to be grand. The size of it was immense, yes...But then it split. Where once a border was, another forged. Why so, might be asked? Well, like any other time in the human's existence, they always found a way to go up against one another. This time, Messla was the catalyst for this disagreement. Certain super-powers started to question the implications of their designs. Which all started with Fredric Chemau, a French spokesman for a protesting organisation that had recently committed to rioting across the European connectivity. He claimed that the City was a way to lure in the problems of the world, to give them an excuse to not whine and to not need the assistance. It was pampering, as stated. Even then, the isolation of the city became clear to these protesters, and more and more riots began to broadcast in several other countries. Whilst these issues arose, the city seemed to lay in silence as if detached from the troubles of this world. That was until it became the central attention. Soon enough, the governments of each nation started to forge their own opinions on the city they helped to construct. A bomb went off, in the central tower of the city. One that housed the democratic Prime Minister of Messla. It was no small act of terrorism, and upon detonation the investigations seemed to almost instantly dive in. Within minutes, the Prime Minister was reported to have died, after CCTV footage leaked across the internet streaming the man himself being caught in the explosion as soon as the fire spread. Rumours spread within minutes. The country to leak the stream was identified as a French governmental figure. The man who carried and detonated the bomb was part of the CIA. The claims to want the building and city destroyed was made by the Australians only days before the event happened. Eyes began to look towards one another with untrustworthy glances... It only took days before countries that held a part in the defence league began to dispatch their forces to the City at once, and riots began once more. The forces landed, but within hours one of the platoons of the Norwegian military were shot down by what many guessed was the Polish reconnaissance detachment present in their sector. Tensions began to light up, and a spark and flame of uncalled shots were soon exchanged without permission from their superiors. Those who worked alongside each other in the city soon began to oppress certain nationalities, certain individuals who had been blamed for the violence. Every country seemed to be importing more troops, claiming that they were only sticking to the safer side of the area. This just found more and more individuals being placed into a bubbling pot of water, about to reach its boiling point. Everything seemed like it couldn't get any worse...That was until an order came through. Justifications of war goals were sent through, and the Russians found themselves with threats from the North American Coalition. With that, conferences were set up to try and negotiate an agreement between the two, but mishaps found them becoming worse and more widespread. Countries soon found themselves making demands of their own, both about Messla and about the future of their nation. Some wanted more technological power amongst the city, some refused to let anyone set a single foot back into the city. It only took one week for the political demands to become so far out that war was declared. Though the reports from the conference were sketchy and usually hard to follow by, orders started flushing through for forces to begin firing upon other detachments within the city. One single week passed before a frontier was created. Countries began to divide from their old partnerships and slip into new ones. The city began to creep into two sides, one of the Messla Defence Force, a coalition of militarised units forged from countries wishing to only defend the city, the people and end the war itself (Or simply going against the other force), and the other side that still claimed to be the W.T.O. Countries around the world began to find themselves be invaded from within, but with the sheer pressure of the city, it was almost impossible to extract most of the forces from within. Only more could be deployed, or more could be used to defend their own countries. Multiple fronts were now placed into the world. Civil wars were created, third party resistance factions forged and troops were deployed all over the globe. A new war had begun, and the entire world seems to have gotten itself in on the action.
Involved Forces - The United Kingdom - Russia - French Loyalists [Regular French Democracy] - Germany - Brazil - Afghanistan - India - Japan - Argentina - Turkey - Poland - Sweden - South Korea - New Zealand Rebels [Kiwi guerrilla fighters that deployed small detachments to Messla] - Finland

Involved Forces - The United States of America - Canada - Mexico - China - Australia - The Republic of Ireland - The New French Government [French Uprising Forces] - New Zealand - Italy - Greece - South Africa - Democratic Republic of Congo - Cuba - Somalia - Iraqi People's Force [A Militia Force sent to assist/work alongside Somalian Forces] - Netherlands

During the second month of the war, February 24th to be exact, the war had reached full swing, as forces were deployed all over the world. Without the use of Nuclear weapons anymore, the conflict would be fought with the tools they could create. Tanks roamed certain streets and forged defensive outposts, soldiers patrolled and battled incoming conflicts, whether large and/or small, and the air was littered with planes and helicopters being sent out to fulfil daring tasks that committed to the war act. But with battles forming a a brand new border on the Messla Frontier, a no man's land being called out as such, each side still had more localised problems to deal with. Messla was a place of people. These people needed to be convinced to either side. The M.D.F. had to ensure that those who were within Messla were kept safe and ensured that the civilians of the city were not in danger, evacuating regularly to better cities in non-conflicted countries. The W.T.O. had to ensure that territory taken from their enemy would mean that the people weren't going to revolt against their occupation, and to ensure that they were on equal tracks. Both sides had the similarity of needing to ensure resistance cells did not form. After the M.D.F. returned the equipment from a F.O.B located on the outskirts of No-Man's land, duo of towers once owned by a Rich business corporation becomes inhabited with a small Third Party cell informally referred to as the Offspring of the War. An extremist group, they use threats and explosive materials to get their demands. Having been a problem for the M.D.F. and the W.T.O. at the same time, they had built up a strong price over their heads. Information got to either side about their threats to the structure and the people around it. If the tower, containing a highly dangerous explosive material, were to blow, it would endanger many citizens still living in those parts, who refused to leave their homes. The M.D.F. saw it as their duty to stop this group, to ensure that they could convince their own they still held order and power in the city, whilst the W.T.O. sought to save the building based upon its strategic value towards a plan known as Operation: Eclipse. Both sides were aware that the explosive was also going to harm their own soldiers, with its destructive radius of shock. At 2:34am, either side, not weary of their oppositions own intent on saving the structure, organised detachments to seize the threat before the people or building could fall to the devastating explosion. Without the knowledge of their opponent's involvement, the two sides collided and clashed. In the confusion of meeting one another, panicked gunshots echoed throughout the building as either side came into contact with one another by accident. This ruined the element of surprise, and upon hearing this, the third party extremists detonated the bomb, causing a destructive shock-wave and explosion on the bottom floors. By 2:41am, the building began to shake, and tilt. The soldiers inside, as well as the building, toppled into the second tower adjacent to it, leaving destruction on a colossal scale. They say there were no survivors...

The Roleplay

Welcome to what is practically World War III, but without all of that extremely devastating nuclear material that seems to ruin the fun of this Roleplay. Here, as you have guessed, we have two sides frantically going against one another on a global scale, not just in the city itself. However, as stated, this roleplay scenario will take place entirely within Messla, after said mission that goes horribly wrong. The survivors, from either side, are the characters that will be taken control of, as they struggle to survive the upcoming onslaught that is to be Operation: Eclipse. Operation: Eclipse, to be more exact, is the steam roll of a force from the World Treaty Organisation into Messla Defence Coalition territory, which has the change to overtake the characters. Now these people are going to be without orders, without guidance and without a superior deciding their actions. Which means that when they gather their senses in the wreckage, they are likely to run into surviving comrades, though few in numbers, or their own original enemy. However, to get the two to work together, if they don't split off, would be quite the tricky business to find a valuable reason to commit to, other than treason against their original affiliation in the war. The Survival aspect of this Roleplay goes around the steam roll of the other force, as well as the character itself. The main focus of this is not entirely the conflict, though a very useful and heavily influenced aspect of it, but more character development and connections from the two sides, showing that by knowing the enemy they may not appear as the enemy anymore. That, or you end up shooting them regardless. Think about it this way, lost in a war-torn behemoth of a city, trying to ensure their survival whilst finding their way back to continue the fight is where it comes from. Characters CAN, though not necessarily will, die. How they fight their way back to safety, which may lead to a continuation of the roleplay based upon a final stand from one side or the other, is all up to us, the roleplayers of this story. Now the main character each of us create will be standard infantry. There are no special forces to be used from us, and all specialised branches such as airmen and motorised infantry are all dependent on side characters and NPCs that we also create. They will not be fully on their own for the full Roleplay, and will run into friendlies and foes alike. The character sheet can be laid out to your heart's desire, but do keep in mind that all the necessary information needs to be included, as well as extra information if you wish to add it.

An Image here of the Character, either in uniform or not, goes well here.
Name Pretty Obvious. Full name. Nickname Optional, not really required at all. If provided, explain why it is that. Gender Self Explanatory Age Ditto, though it must be between 23-27, for the purpose of the rank restriction. Nationality Ditto
Affiliation Which side are they on? The Messla Defence Coalition, globally known as the Global Defence Coalition, or the World Treaty Organisation? Detachment Which specific regiment/platoon/company/division do they serve under? Most of them would be very similar, as they were all on the same mission after all. Rank Most of the characters here will be at the rank of Private (Or the equivalent to it in another country), and those who wish anything different will have to consult me. High ranks are almost off limits, as I will explain if asked, due to us focusing on the common man and woman to see how they cope without guidance when faced with surviving all the way to safety. Callsign Most of these would use specified and formal ones, though specialised units such as side characters of the air would have less complicated and specific ones. Infantry Role What classification amongst the fireteams and platoons do they hold? This could be from a Designated Marksmen, to a Grenadier, Sapper, Rifleman, Light Support, Heavy Support etc. Years of Service How long have they served only within their chosen affiliation?
Personality What are they like, basically? Appearance A description to accompany the image. Where did their origins begin? Military Involvement This wouldn't be too large, but it would consist of mostly recent battles or experience, as well as older and specified battles/conflicts.
Character Theme A song that could be associated with the Character. Just a bit of banter at this point.
As for rules, the rules are pretty straight forward. As this is a very character-based Roleplay, I'll start on those things. Follow the restrictions I've set in the Character sheet. It's vital you should, because otherwise I lose my temper and stuff. When it comes to language, vulgar is fine, but remember to not go fully overboard and all. We want these to be like genuine people...Unless your idea of a genuine person is uncontrollable explicit-ness. Romance? Pfft...Go for it, but remember that the RPG [Heh heh...Military Pun] rules still apply to this thread as always. Why wouldn't they? Also remember, that the military don't take too kindly to those sorta things...I mean they don't mind it, but they don't advise it. Now for the ones that are for how the Roleplay works...One Main character. The rest include side characters that may not be included for the majority of the story. They might be, you don't know that? It's all dependent on what happens in the roleplay. Do give me permission to make one and at least tell me why they might be of use to the development before creating. Characters that are made need to be posted into the OOC with a mentioning of my own username to ensure I see it. Then I accept it, blah blah blah. That is providing there are no flaws in the sheet itself. Also, characters CAN, as said before, die. This means that there is an aspect of survival that is needed. But this only applies to those who take unforgivingly ridiculous actions. Sure, the odd daring act can prop up here and there, but do remember that they aren't invisible. Combat also has its restrictions, as you'll have to take ammo consumption into account, as well as finding food and water (Which basically involves asking the locals and raiding evacuated buildings). Now I do wish that you are to enjoy this, as much as I will, but that's more of a request than a requirement. I hope that this can turn out better than what I imagine it will, and let's see us get a good story out of this!
