A strange white liquid spilled out from the hollow hand as the arm rolled and bounced away across the grass. The doll detached its ruined arm with a clatter of chains, running at Hazel as blades slid out along the length of its remaining right arm until the arm resembled little more than a chainsaw. Meanwhile, Hazelโ€™s follow-up attack coincided with Devotionโ€™s sludge, smacking the four impeded dogs cleanly away from Emma as Determination followed up and charged into the group of anteater dogs, grabbing one by the throat and tearing its head off in a spray of watery, white liquid. Three dogs remained alive, yelping and hissing in confusion. They pawed the ground anxiously as they eyed Emma, uncertain of the attackโ€™s direction. One of them was struggling to move, its legs broken from the force of Hazelโ€™s impact while the other two limped around, their tongues lashing out at Determination. One of the tongues wrapped around Determinationโ€™s arm, tearing it off easily while the other dog punctured the shadow puppetโ€™s leg, toppling it forward. Even then, the puppet remained loyal to Emmaโ€™s command, reaching out with its one good arm and slamming one of the dogsโ€™ heads into the ground before they could retract their tongues, splattering it across the grass. One functional dog remained and it snapped its tongue at Determinationโ€™s head, destroying the doll again. The last dog backed away from Devotionโ€™s sludge tongue flicking angrily in and out. The rest of Hazelโ€™s swing collided with the eye-scorpion, making it flinch and interrupting its cast. It shook its โ€œheadโ€ in anger, recovering from the blow and looking around furiously for the source of the attack. Two loud chattering noises made the monsters nearby pause, emanating from the two dolls that had been standing in the back the entire time. They both pointed at Hazel in unison, spinning away from her range after the unspoken direction. The remaining dog and eye scorpion turned to charge her, only to be distracted by the sound of another shotgun round going off as Lawrence fired at the witch above the scorpion. The shot not only shattered the glass orb in the witchโ€™s hand, but also decimated her hand. Her orb exploded into a condensed spray of the glitter it had sucked in, shredding the witchโ€™s upper torso and face, but doing no damage to the eye-scorpion. As the glitter fluttered down around Lawrence and Christmas, the witch screeched, white blood streaming from the gashes in her body. She spat a black, jagged spear at Lawrenceโ€™s direction, the spell flying from her ruined mouth. The spear exploded into black flecks as it made contact with Lawrenceโ€™s shoulder, doing no physical damage, but blocking his magic and shutting off the glow around his and Christmas's bodies. It would be a rough 30 seconds before the effects of the witchโ€™s spell faded. The dog limped towards Lawrence for a moment before another set of two loud chatters caught their attention. Both of the dolls in the back had pointed straight at Hazel again, though the eye scorpion didnโ€™t seem to pay attention to that. The dog, however, did. It resumed its uneven gallop at Hazel while the eye scorpion turned to face Lawrence, its high-heeled foot poised for a quick forward strike at the irritating shotgun that had ruined its plans so far. The scorpion didnโ€™t notice Sanderโ€™s charge until his fist collided with its giant eye, making a small dent at the bottom of the cornea. It immediately flicked Sander backwards with a heavy, horizontal swipe of its front finger-leg, cracking two of Sanderโ€™s lower ribs in the process and knocking the wind out of him. The blood mage was sent sprawling backwards almost a dozen meters, coming to a rest on his back after a brief roll. Assuming that distraction was done with, it turned back to Lawrence, its lumbering movements slow as it curled its heel-tail forward again for a strike, apparently abandoning attempts at casting spells for the moment. Sturdy motherfuckers. Myla shot more neon lights at them, taking advantage of Ethan's attack to cast another round of cutting patterns without the creatures noticing her preparation. She sheared off four legs from one of the octopus creatures and it collapsed, white blood spewing from the stumps. "I'll have to drop a nuke..." Ethan groaned, loudly enough for the group near him to hear. "Can you handle it, Gen?" The brown-haired girl in Eric's arms nodded. "Fuck yeah, I can. Can you handle me?" she grinned at him, her foul mouth making Myla roll her eyes with a slight smile. "You're...way too young to be hitting on me," Ethan turned back to the group as Genevieve's barrier shimmered into full visibility, the girl making use of Eric's magic generator ability to fortify her shield to the max. With that, Ethan raised both arms forward, the outline of a white sphere forming in the air above his group's set of monsters. Slowly, it started growing brighter. Myla increased the rate at which she fired off cutting fields, keeping the creatures below the orb by repeatedly corralling them in every time they tried to move. As three of the octopus-legs broke off from the main group of monsters and charged at the barrier before she could set up another series of cuts, Myla withdrew all her markers from the teams, trusting them to know what they were attacking now. The various markers returned to her and it was a simple enough matter to send them back out at the new targets, repurposed into cutting edges. The 43 shapes, despite varying levels of cutting consistency, ripped through the three octopus-legs coming at them, dicing them up into uneven chunks from sheer quantity alone. Cowed now, the remaining creatures hesitated to move, giving Myla time to tap Eric's arm and refresh her magical reserves slightly before she renewed her attack. She couldn't risk taking too much when Genevieve needed most of it to maintain the barrier. Everyone can see Ethan's cast--the NPC team is a lot further out from the rest of you, so there's no danger of getting caught in the attack. It's just noticeable and big. Red team enemies remaining: 1 dog (limping), 1 dog (legs broken, struggling to move) 1 witch (injured), 3 dolls (1 without an arm, 2 further in the back), 1 eye scorpion (pissed). The small glitter explosion from the orb rained down mainly on Lawrence and Christmas. Two dolls in the back have moved out of Hazel's range, though her initial sweep wouldn't have hit them anyway since the eyepion took the brunt of it. Third doll is running at Hazel. Limping dog is limping at Hazel. Devotion is still up, creating sludge near Emma. If someone had been moving while it happened, they would have missed it entirely. In the lobby of Building A, a few Arbiters sat on the various sofas and couches, discussing the emergency. "No fucking way it's Menagerie," a girl with green highlights in her hair and dark makeup on her face snarled at a guy with black hair so messy his eyes were barely visible. "Hey, we all heard the announcement, don't look at me," he raised his pale hands in a gesture of surrender. "Dude, I was near one of those new kids who got sent out for it," another girl with blonde hair, a loose T-shirt, and light blue jeans spoke up, leaning forward from her seat across the other two. "Bets they'll die?" "Don't even joke," Highlights responded, snorting derisively at her. "We lost way too many this last year. "Shane can potentially be the next Merlin. Decker was nowhere close to being the next Benediction. Kinda a fair deal, right?" "Stop. Talking about them like that," Bedhead stood up, shaking his head and turning to leave. He nodded briefly at Brent and Sophia by way of greeting before heading to the elevator. "You two about to get in?" he asked them. Rooms are set up in similar fashion to the others with the placement exams and other forms on the desk. For Sophia's room, there is a leftover blue sheet of paper below one of the other desks, clearly fallen and forgotten. Otherwise, the only desk with any setup is hers. How Sophia interprets that, I leave to VampireOracle.
