hi friends i'm peeds and this is my babi boii
Wesley “Wes” Lan
Male 28 Appearance Wes stands at about 174 or 5 feet 7 inches. His body type is slender and wiry; he is not weak, but he has no use for brutal strength in his line of work. He has light brown eyes and hair (medium-length and usually tied up) and medium-toned skin, made tan and a little freckled from frequent time outside. His features are also small save for a prominent, slightly beaky nose and thick, intense eyebrows. Despite this, he is pretty easy on the eyes and generally sports a pleasant expression, even when his face is neutral.
(ART CR. TAN JIU) He favours clothing that is not clingy, but not baggy - everything is cut impeccably to his figure. Generally, he will sport a black or beige turtleneck tucked into dark-washed jeans with a belt and trainers. He does not have any piercings or tattoos, nor does he bother with needless accessories that only get in his way. Typically when doing his “night job”, he doesn’t like to go for the ostentatious. He isn’t a superhero and doesn’t aim to be seen, so there’s no point. Instead, he tends to opt for a plain black body suit with a simple black mask.

Talent Nullification: By utilising his small amount of Talent in order to tap into the larger natural resources outside of his body, Wes is able to hinder or nullify the mana or Talent of others. This extends to being able to cancel the effects of enchanted objects/items as well, if he needs to do so. The effects are not permanent, but will generally subsist so long as one is visible or nearby and will peter out over time once they are no longer in his line of sight. Can only be used so long as there is some mana in the area to augment his own. Mana Redistribution: By controlling the mana in an area around himself as described above, Wes is able to manipulate objects in his environment. This is primarily done by creating things like barriers or spikes from the earth in order to deflect or block damage, though it depends on the type of area he is in. Worry not, he will find a way. Wes is skilled in hand-to-hand combat like many of his former fellow Disciples, but he prefers to instead dispatch targets from a longer distance in order to leave much less evidence and to prevent himself from being forced to see his target up close. He also has fairly developed manalysis skills to make tracking down targets more simple.

On Person: Tactile Gloves/Boots: These marvels of the modern world are able to bond with most materials, allowing Wes to easily scale buildings and reach difficult spots. They are not effective on wet or slippery surfaces, such as ice, and should therefore be treated with caution still when attempting to surmount such areas. The boots also allow him to run faster than the average human, though not to an extremely intense degree. They do need to be charged with mana in order to be effective, and a charge lasts about 8 hours. 7.62×54mmR semi-automatic Dragunov sniper rifle: 122.5cm, 4.36kg unloaded + with scope Khukuri: 41cm, 460g, hardwood reinforced handle, double fuller In Bag: - 4 syringes of lethal poison - 5ml doses each - 5m of coiled steel-wrapped wire - GoPro + headstrap - ammo (mix of regular and silver-tipped)

Wes doesn’t have a sob story. His parents and friends weren’t murdered by Talents, he wasn’t born with any sort of abnormality or hindrance, he didn’t go through any particular traumas; the closest thing to that would be that he was sometimes picked on in China for being half American, but it wasn’t like that left a lasting impression since his family relocated to Danvers, Massachusetts after their tenure overseas was complete when he was only five years old. Now his parents, they were the ones with sob stories; for generations, both of them had been Witch Hunters under the Disciples of Salem, and they had seen many fall. Wes grew up with the understanding that Talents were inherently evil. Not that it was always their fault, but they were born with and even spread a taint that had to be eliminated from the gene pool. Being a child, and under the scrutiny of his parents and their social circles, he caved to the idea without question. Things were fact. The first time he killed a Talent was when he was eight, sidled up in a back alley. His parents had done most of the work, but he got to deal the final strike. It did not feel good; it felt like duty. As he got older, he slowly weaned off of requiring assistance. It would be wrong to call him a prodigy, but Wes had what many of those born with combat in their blood didn’t: the persistence to get to that level, but also to go beyond. It was not easy work, but his determination to prove himself outweighed the pains. He still had no personal vendetta against the “others” he had to track down; many of these people were too surprised to fight back, and many of them hardly used their powers for anything besides person interest in their own worlds. He was satisfied with their choices, but the Disciples were not. The more skilled he became and the more innocent bodies he trailed, the less certain he became of his mission. He saw more opportunity in Talents than danger. Working together to destroy the real problems would have been far more mutually beneficial. Wes was eventually exiled from the Disciples for one too many missions failed and one too many Talents who got away; his technical skill could not be denied, but his drive for the cause bordered on non-existent. Stripped of his Hunter rank and excommunicated from his family, narrowly escaping with his life and the promise that they would take it from him, he still felt nothing but elation at escaping the confines of his duties. Despite what has occurred, he holds no vendetta against the Disciples and does not blame them for their views, but he simply feels differently. Wes now roams as best he can on limited income, eliminating targets he feels most suspect as opposed to all of them. He feels vaguely about the "greater good", and aims to try and find it for himself. Currently he tends to hang in and around the midwest, currently residing in a small town in Wisconsin following a lead to a group there.

Alignment: Neutral Good Wes is, by most conventions, a gentlemen. It doesn't disguise that he can be a bit of an ass, but he's not immune to social graces. In general, he is quite pleasant and clever, loving nothing more than to sit down and have a good chat. Though he may work on his own right now, he is still a team player at heart and works best with an efficient group that can communicate areas for him to check out. He likes company, but this is where his sometimes boorish side can come in, often being teasing and prying, asking leading or volatile questions for the sake of getting an inflamed reaction if he doesn't have any other stimulation. When on the job, however, he is not distracted - he'll still be quipping at you, but he is not the type to take things that are truly serious lightly.
